I've been playing CVM since it released on Switch. There is so much unique personality and depth to this game. Not to mention the cross over with Kaiju No. 8 is so cool. The unique enemy types along with deep puzzles and creative strategy make this a cherished title in my indy game library.

Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions unfolds a captivating narrative centered around young Damien, a French boy thrust into the unfamiliar territory of managing his grandfather's estate in a distant land. As he grapples with the complexities of his new life, Damien embraces the persona of Captain Velvet Meteor, a character whose intergalactic quest mirrors his own journey of adaptation and self-discovery. Supported by companions like Jay-P, a talking robotic overseer, and a diverse array of allies he encounters along the way, Damien navigates through the challenges of his new reality, seeking answers and finding solace amidst the unfamiliarity.
From a gameplay perspective, Captain Velvet Meteor offers a delightful blend of isometric, tactical adventure with puzzle-solving and stealth elements. Players assume control of Damien and his partner, strategizing their movements and actions across various scenarios. Whether it's defeating adversaries or uncovering elusive objectives, each stage presents unique challenges that test players' tactical prowess. While reminiscent of titles like Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics, Captain Velvet Meteor distinguishes itself with a simpler, more accessible approach, ensuring that players of all skill levels can enjoy the adventure without feeling overwhelmed by complexity.
The combat mechanics of Captain Velvet Meteor is notably forgiving, allowing players to progress through encounters with relative ease. Many enemies can be bypassed or defeated without direct confrontation, and collectible orbs serve to enhance teamwork, enabling devastating attacks and replenishing health. This dynamic interplay between strategy and cooperation adds depth to the gameplay experience, fostering a sense of engagement and satisfaction as players overcome obstacles and forge ahead in Damien's adventure.
One of the game's most compelling aspects is its integration of various manga characters, which enriches Damien's journey with layers of depth and familiarity. From iconic figures to lesser-known heroes, each ally embodies a unique homage to the rich tapestry of manga and animation. This seamless incorporation of diverse characters not only enhances the game's narrative but also provides players with moments of recognition and excitement as they encounter familiar faces from beloved franchises.
Moreover, Damien emerges as a relatable and empathetic protagonist, navigating the challenges of his new environment with resilience and determination. Rather than succumbing to despair or bitterness, Damien confronts his circumstances with courage and optimism, finding strength in the bonds he forms with those around him. This portrayal of Damien as a likable and understandable character without resorting to heavy-handed storytelling tactics adds depth and authenticity to his journey, resonating with players on a personal level.
Visually charming and accompanied by suitable sound effects, Captain Velvet Meteor immerses players in a whimsical world filled with wonder and adventure. The game's cartoony graphics complement its fanciful elements, while the soundtrack, though somewhat forgettable, contributes to the overall atmosphere of the experience. Together, these elements create a cohesive and enjoyable gameplay experience that captivates players from start to finish.
In conclusion, Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions stands as a testament to the power of imagination and resilience in the face of adversity. Through its accessible gameplay, engaging narrative, and charming aesthetic, the game offers players a delightful journey of discovery and self-realization. With its potential for replayability and hidden treasures waiting to be uncovered, Captain Velvet Meteor promises an exciting future for Damien and players alike. Welcome to Japan, indeed.

When I tell you this game is beyond adorable, it honestly is. The fighting portion is really good and can be a bit of a challenge but it's very engaging and I love it. The part that makes me love this game is the very unique way that Damien overcomes the different stresses he experiences, by combining his love for manga, his art, and his imagination it makes this game so relatable to anyone who has very creative ways to help them overcome fears and stressors in their life. They did an amazing job!

"Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions" is an action-adventure game with turn based combat. Live the adventure through the eyes of a scared kid that tries to overcome his fears and becomes a superhero in his mind! Help him conquer them, along with his robot friend Jay-P, and face them off! Watch as everyday stuff transform into enemies and combat them harmonically in union with your friend. You might have forgotten the times when as a kid in your mind the mall was a king's castle or when your back yard was a forest with mythical creatures but this game will make you remember and relive those beautiful memories. A burst of emotions will flow through you!
Featuring eight Jump+ characters and a crazy plot, it's very fun and entertaining! Well written dialogues and exceptional friends and foes! Along with a great cast of characters, comes an awesome soundtrack and pretty visuals, which help a lot with the atmosphere of the game. Of course, all of these wouldn't amount to much if the combat wasn't satisfying! And oh... It is very satisfying! You'll learn most of it through the tutorial. The combat is easy to understand and pleasing. The controls are good, the combos are interesting and the cooperation with Jay-P feels great! You'll need to think how to proceed but, all in all, it's a forgiving game for all ages! Still, it doesn't feel like it lacks in anything - and it doesn't!
If you ever wanted to feel like a little kid again, and play using your imagination, this is game to do it! Become a superhero and experience the rise in confidence! I have to warn you though.. It's immersive. You won't feel like you are playing a role; you'll BE the superhero achieving difficult goals and making things right!
Even if turn-based tactical combat isn't your favorite genre, try this game out. You won't regret it! There is a lot of love and craft here. And I can assure you, you won't get bored; not even for a second!
