HugeHead is a surprisingly fun and enjoyable if very janky Japanese indie horror game.
The basic premise of HugeHead is simple, we accidentally run over what appears to be Humpty Dumpty and in the absence of all the kings horses and men we decide to go into the woods to find the injured party, and instead encounter a world of Junji Ito style body horror.
Gameplay here is simple, run from the egg men, avoid becoming one yourself (you'll see how), find items and keys to progress, and find your car keys that the fiendish egg people have taken. Yolks on you for going after one!
There is some great stuff here even if the devs inexperience is clear. Sound wise and visual wise the game nails something special with vibes similar to the Siren series and some really disturbing stuff to look at. Not all the notes are translated which is a shame but it's not a deal breaker as the core plot is. The enemies kind ramble about the environments sometimes being really persistent and annoying and sometimes giving up after seconds with no consistency to the AI and it's also a little hard to gauge where to go at times but nothing too bad. The game has multiple ending (I got them all) which are pretty easy to find and you can easily re-load and continue where you left off before getting the ending which is nice.
I'd def like to see more polished titles in the vein of this from the devs in the future but for now this is a quirky, definitely janky but ultimately fun little body horror experience, that will leave you both laughing and unsettled in equal doses. Recommended.
