SCHiM is a game about jumping from shadow to shadow, while interacting with a relaxing and lively environment.
What is a schim?
A schim is the soul and spirit of an object, thing, or living being. Everything in the world has one. A schim should never be separated from their thing! This does happen to your schim, this schim who is attached to a human being is separated from them early on in the game.
Can you get back to him before it’s too late?
Features
- Unique 3D platforming through shadows.
- Animated shadow platforms and environments.
- Each level has its own scenery with small stories.
- A story of a person losing their shadow.
- A beautiful abstract world.

SCHiM is fun, good looking. technically impressive, but it isn't very deep.
It's mostly about vibes and completing relatively simple puzzles and platforming challenges, which makes it perfect for people relatively inexperienced with platformers.
The gimmick of jumping between shadows is just so cool. Although I didn't enjoy the platforming very much myself, I still had a good time all the way through. I wish there were a bunch of tricky night time levels (which were all super great).

The gimmick of this game is what initially caught my attention. Needing to jump between shadows as a sort of unique platformer was an interesting concept that I was wiling to try. The game is also made with a lot of care and passion, with the actual controls feeling pretty good. There was some sort of story about mental health and finding your purpose or something, but I didn’t care too much about that. The only thing about this game that kind of bugged me was the level design. Some levels were really long, some were really short, some were really easy, and some were strangely difficult and annoying. It didn’t really scale up as you get farther into the game as you’d expect. I found that the only way I could actually complete this game was to play it in small sessions since I’d get annoyed if I played for too long.

Writing the review as I am halfway through the game - I like it so far, I like the idea and the coziness (and the puzzles). I get stuck in some places / some puzzles are a little hard, but I didn't have to look up any guides so far.
edit: I've finished the game after 5 hrs and really liked it. I'd love to see more of this i.e. future games with similar playstyle / puzzle

I enjoyed playing with the color change feature and experimenting with 4 color palettes

It's a cute game though I will say it felt a little too long at parts. I know everyone and their mom loves long games but I feel like this would've made a bigger impact on me if it was like half as short imo. The story itself is also kinda cute but I feel like there were places where it could have been stronger using the unique concept. But either way this is a great game and so I recommend it.

I've loved this game!
It's been a super cute and heartwarming experience. It's nice to see a game set in the Netherlands, it's immediately recognizable. The art style it's very pleasant and the Schim itself it's the cutest thing ever (I'll instabuy the plushie if it will ever come back on Makeship). The gameplay is challenging sometimes but without being stressful in the basic mode.
I understand the reasons behind the negative reviews, it's true that the levels can feel a bit repetitive but it's not a big deal, my suggestion is to play some levels in each session without binging it too much; I think it's not that kind of game, I've really enjoyed it more that way.
I'd totally recommend it, especially now that the price is lowered and/or during sales. It's been an adorable experience.
