The Detroit After
The Detroit After is a violent and ruthless top-down shooter with an emphasis on action and fast-paced gunplay. Shoot, break down doors, kick enemies, stun them with the butt of your rifle to complete your missions. Equipped with a powerful new A.I. and extraordinary strength, you will work in the shadows by eliminating the killers of a powerful rival company using the various weapons you will find along your way.
• You play as a very tough and advanced robot.
• 15 levels of pure action.
• Fast-paced gameplay.
• Devastating weapons.
• Find new chips for various upgrades.
• Each hit slows you down.
• Each level has its own music track.
• Arcade oriented. The story is told in a short and simple way and does not break the rhythm of the game.
• A journey from the violent streets of Detroit to the luxurious offices of Techmann, your company’s competitor.
• Cops and mercenaries, both will be your enemies. They will try to destroy you in every way.
In a world increasingly dependent on computers, Hi-Tech companies battle with technological innovations to reach an ever greater number of customers.
The need to open up to new markets in order to continue to grow and compete in an increasingly aggressive way, pushes some of these companies to invest heavily in robotics and artificial intelligence.
You will embody the result of these incredible technological advances. A robot that will be used to “facilitate” the rise of the company by carrying out various secret missions.
Obviously the police will not stand by as you sow death and destruction and it will be another obstacle that you will have to remove if you do not want to be stopped.
A lot of skill and concentration will be required to pass the tests that await you. The enemies will be in great numerical superiority and you will have to carefully evaluate the battleground. You will have to resist all attacks if you do not want to be considered a bad investment and be deactivated by your own creators.
You are a big step forward in the field of robotics.
Could it possibly be too far ahead?
How far is the society that built you to accomplish its goals willing to go?
Will these great technological advances only benefit a few?
Could there be too much power deriving from these technologies?
Find out by playing The Detroit After…
Do you want a game with hours of cutscenes? Not the right game.

If you are looking for a game that puts you straight into the action, THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU!
Enough talk! Now it’s time to shoot!

THE SHORT REVIEW:
A violent Hotline Miami knock-off with game-play almost as good but a worse plot. Short but sweet for the price. 7 out of 10.
THE LONG REVIEW:
"You are a robot. You have to kill everyone" Those are the words used to describe this game...whilst it might be accurate, let's be honest: It isn't exactly exciting or deep as far as a description goes. Having finished the game it is about as much worth as the story deserves.
Basically this is evil Robocop meets the game-play of Hotline Miami, as a nasty corporation invents a robot and then sends it out to kill and destroy their competitors. It's not exactly compelling or particularly well-written, and is presented in pretty underwhelming static graphics. As far as the narrative goes it's nothing more than passable filler in-between bouts of visceral action.
When it comes to the game-play it is on much more solid ground, as it essentially cribs the entire mechanics from Hotline Miami and makes it a bit more forgiving and violent. If you are unfamiliar with those games: You go into a top-down level and are given a variety of weapons to kill all the enemies through stealth or brute-force. One hit can kill you, so it becomes a tense affair as you use everything at hand, be it shooting, stabbing or environmental hazards such as crushing them to death in a door, to succeed.
A mixture of leaderboards for combo kills scored through a level and the masochistic streak of "git gud ya scrub" type players gave the original template a certain appeal. Where The Detroit After slightly deviates from it is by giving you a modest amount of hits before you die, so it isn't quite as brutal a challenge by comparison. To those expecting a tough experience this maybe lessens it somewhat, though if you hated it before for this reason then it is more palatable now.
It is savage fun and still manages to keep most of Hotline Miamis flavour, so anyone looking for a copy of its design, and who isn't super-fussy, ought to find this enjoyable. As you use everything from (takes a deep breath) knives, axes, pistols, shotguns, rifles, crossbows, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, and (exhales) your mighty robot feet and fists to redecorate the environment in bits of your enemies.
The controls are reasonably slick, though there's a lack of polish that brings it down a little if you are a joy-pad user, as the target lock-on can sometimes aim at things nowhere near where you are pointing. The last annoyance is that activities like kicking in doors, or battering someones head in, cannot be interrupted once started.
Having said that: this is intentional, and part of the methodical mechanics, as it forces you to think about your actions, else you leave yourself exposed. It still did my head in a bit.
In terms of its presentation its fairly decent overall. Graphically it isn't all that but it gets the job done. On the other hand the audio and music is excellent, with pretty banging electronic tunes providing a funky backdrop to the sounds of gunfire, screams and splats of blood.
The game isn't very long at around 3 hours to complete, but this is offset by the cheap price and it being pretty enjoyable while it lasted.

This is a fun, short game greatly inspired by Hotline Miami. You can take more than one hit which already sets it apart. The shooting is satisfying but the level design is just nowhere near what Hotline Miami 1 or 2 offers. The story is pretty much a throwaway but you can easily skip all the scenes if you choose to do so.
Overall I'd recommend it for the price especially if you want more games like Hotline Miami. Hope the dev chooses to continue with a sequel.

Great game so far, I'm having a lot of fun! It takes some time to understand the mechanics but when you master the basics you're hooked up! This game deserves attention!

A pure, distilled, cyberpunk experience, vibrating with raw and raging cyber-violence. Gta london meets Georg Darrow's Hard Boiled graphic novel!

Heavily inspired by "Hotline Miami", "The Detroit After" is enjoyable and its soundtracks are great. A good choice for the people who wants an action violent game.

A poor man's Hotline Miami.
Not quite as fast as HM, and a bit more forgiving with health (not one shot death), but still fun.

Explosions, blood, damage, wreckomendead.
