Lost Labyrinth Extended Version
Lost Labyrinth is a coffeebreak dungeon crawling game!
The Labyrinth was more than a dungeon. It was the crowning achievement of the necromancer Mythrax, who wielded the Staff of the Covenant to bring dead stone to life and shape it by his will to form the most impenetrable fortress ever constructed.
Then Mythrax vanished. For years, the traps and spells that guarded the Labyrinth kept it just as Mythrax intended. As they broke down, wildlife and bandits sought a haven in the upper levels, even as long-imprisoned monsters broke free from the depths.
Now the Prince of Ulther has recovered an ancient scroll which suggests the Staff of the Covenant was broken during the construction of the Labyrinth, leaving the pieces still inside. Soon a wave of heroes will brave the Labyrinth, seeking the staff along with other unbelievable treasures deep within.
You are one of these brave heroes that travel to the Lost Laybrinth. Hopefully your skills and equipment will be good enough to survive this dungeon. There are dangerous monsters down there, fierce traps, and loads of gold. You will need Light and you will need Food and Water.
The dungeon can be completed by either collecting all 9 parts of the staff of the last covenant or by reaching level 150. Each part is hidden in a different room of the dungeon. One every 10 levels. Sometimes guarded by big monsters.
Compared to other games of its kind it has the following features:
- Relatively short gameplay (between 10-40 Minutes)
- Very high replayability because everything is created at random!
- Many different skills to choose from (every player needs another tactic!)
- No experience gain for killing monsters (only for reaching new levels!)
- Zelda like graphics
- Smooth scrolling
- Up to 4 players at the same machine
- Control with mouse, keyboard and joystick
- Versions for Windows and Linux
- Online Highscore
- English, German, Spanish, French, Norwegian, Hungarian, Polish and Chinese

Note: I played the free version quite a bit several months ago, before it hit Steam.
This is one of the better rogue-ish games in my opinion. It has permadeath if you want it, but you can also start a non-permadeath game and save any time. I wish all roguelikes had this option. I'd buy a lot more of them.
The UI is rather awkward, and the graphics very simple, but it has a ton of skills and even has multiplayer, which can be used to create a party to play by yourself.
My only real complaint is that hunger and thirst are a little too intrusive. It feels like every minute or two I need to eat or drink. And on my current game (level 6) I'm completely out of food and "very hungry". This could be a virtual permadeath situation if I can't find food soon.
It's easily worth the five bucks.

Positive Aspects
Great replay value.
Fun to play.
You can choose from a wide variety of both strengths and weaknesses.
Classless character generation allows you to create a very custom character.
Talents are balanced.
You can choose to have permadeath or not.
You can play up to for characters by yourself or hotseat with friends.
Developers are responsive and trying to make the game better.
The few bugs that are in it are quickly being fixed.
Neutral Aspects
Music is catchy if a bit repetative.
Taking a weakness often banns you from taking anything that could counteract that weakness.
Things like food and water are really important, forcing you to use precious character points to address those issues.
Potentially Negative Aspects
Its graphics are simple and inconsistant.
Has a funky lighting system where characters in a multi-player game don't share illumination.
Overall I really like this game. Try it - it is only $5 and well worth the price if you like this type of game.

A very deep character customization sets you up for extreme replayability in a hardcore roguelike. Play it on full-screen and you are good-to-go. If you have set it on stretched window use the hotkeys to navigate to the video settings (press alt to see hotkeys in the menu)
You can also change the settings in the settings.txt in the game folder. Go to the game properties in steam -> local files -> browse local files -> settings.txt

This game has never gotten enough love and it is criminal, great adventure game to play hot seat with 4 people, or start 4 players on your own, the game is extremely fun, you really need to play it, if you like simple yet deep roguelike adventures, this is it, lots of items, lots of magic, good over all, music is pretty retro and great to hear, over all good game, controls might be hard to figure out at first, sometimes the mouse cursor may act funny, but that is an easy fix, Masterpiece, hidden gem!

Lost Labyrinth is a rogue-like (not rogue-lite) turn based game in which you progress down the labyrinth one floor at a time. Each time you head down floor you lvl up; which grants a single point to put in one of the many attributes. All the attributes are potentially meaningful choices; it really depends on the character you have build and what you want them to do.
There are of ways to build and play your character; no shortage of choices here! Just make certain you have the ability to handle all the threats of the labyrinth: monsters, hunger, thirst, poison, sickness, curses, monster resistances, darkness; you will contend with all that and more; I did say that was a rogue-like.
Most monsters don't move; they just guard their area, blocking you with their blocky ♥♥♥. But keep moving; time is ticking. Each turn you take you are getting hungrier, thirstier, and giving the other monsters time to shoot you, blast you, or just spawn on you (this is their home after all).
As I said, the abilities and attributes you choose and build for really impact gameplay, and you can select most any ability at start; so you can have mages in plate, or fighters dropping fireballs if you want.
If you decide to tank up, strapping on heavy armor and a shield means most physical attacks bounce off you, but you might be slower from all the weight, unless you also really strong; spells will still hurt, but ambushes will be much less deadly. Whereas a traditional mage would be able to blasts targets at distance, or walk through walls, or summon minions, but he can't take the hit.
All in all, this is a really deep game with alot of customization for only $1 (can't believe it thats cheap).

This really appeals to me.
If, like me, the most enjoyable part of a Dungeon crawler is the act of making your own unique character, then this game is for you. Want to be hand to hand combat only warrior? Sword and shield, or two handed axe? Take your pick. How about a crack shot bow wielder? A sneaky back stabbing assassin? Or a Fire Mage? Water? Air, Earth, Death, Blood, Acrane, White, Druid, Death, Witch, Warlock, Paladin, Summoner….
The variations are vast, and give the game a lot of replay value. And it only cost me £3 :)
The game play itself does appear to be very basic at first . I would love to be able to install some better tile sets, I think the game would really benefit from that. You can install some custom dungeons too. The game has a lot of potential if modders decide to add things.
All in all, well worth the price.

I really like the game Dungeons of Dredmor but I also wanted a game that was just a tad more serious. The avatars that you can pick from are still cute so its not too serious. Another reviewer said the artwork wasn't consistent and that's so true. It's like a hodge podge. The detailed character creation is one of the game's high points. The game is fun playing with another person. Playing with another person reminded me of playing a speedier version of the classic Dungeons and Dragons board game because it's turn based. Worrying about food and water makes the game tough. There's even an option for being a vegetarian (if you choose this character 'quirk' in the character creation). I also like the little details in the graphics too such as 'arcane arrow' animated as a purple bolt. But it's true that it's kind of buggy. Still worth the 5 bucks.
