Tactical Squad-Based Combat comes to the Fallout® Universe!
You are the wretched refuse. You may be born from dirt, but we will forge you into steel. You will learn to bend; if not you, will you break. In these dark times, the Brotherhood – your Brotherhood – is all that stands between the rekindled flame of civilization and the howling, radiated wasteland.
Your weapons will become more than your tools, they will become your friends. You will use your skills to inspire the lowly and protect the weak… whether they like it or not. Your squadmates will be more dear to you than your kin and for those that survive there will be honor, respect and the spoils of war.

Fallout Tactics is a clunky old RTS that's a blast to play when it works. Pro tip: Run the game in Option 3 "Windows 8" mode. Click the default box in the games graphics settings. Restart the game in Option 1. You can now play fullscreen on windows 11. Here's how to enable the bonus "Springfield" mission. 2001 On disc DLC. Find the file BOS.CFG in the games directory and change {misc.bonusMission} = {false} to true.

I played this game on 2002-2003 I was 16y old:D and I enjoyed it back then. Very good Strategy/RPG/Tactics game... so after 20 years I am enjoying it again although I am 36 years old:) I can not believe it that all this time has passed and I still feel great playing it now. 10/10

IT JUST WORKS...
- All skills are useful, and you will need most of them. Every character needs a combat skill, but don't go small arms on all, use a mix of big guns and energy weapons too.
- The doctor will probably be the most used character. You can't chug stimpaks like you did in F2, first aid and doctor is the best healing here. Sneak / lockpick / traps character is incredibly useful too, for scouting, clearing and setting traps.
- You can have a "skill monkey" character used only for bartering and gambling at the Brotherhood base.
- Different ammo types - don't waste AP bullets on unarmored targets, but don't try to shoot robots with regular bullets. This had a huge impact in F1 / F2, but here it's even worse.
- Different races have different uses - ghouls are weak but can easily walk into radiated areas (there aren't that many though), dogs gain perks every other level, super mutants are very vulnerable (low armor) but devastating with big guns.
- Burst weapons fired at long range will probably miss. However, due to weird hit calculations, if there's another person within the "cone" of burst spread next to the person the burst was aimed at, there's a good chance they'll get hit. Conclusion - when facing enemies with strong burst weapons, have your party spread out. And on the contrary, feel free to fire a burst at a bunch of enemies clumped together at long distance - at least some of them will get hit.

Pros:
>Well made turn-based real-time tactical game elements.
>Post-apocalyptic atmosphere done right.
>Unique atmosphere and setting.
>Good RPG elements.
>Good amount of weapon/equipment/skills variety.
>Good amount of replayability due to different character class focusing & different choices you can make.
Cons:
>Quests can be unforgiving & very confusing at times.
>Average story.
As a game from 2001 there are some aspects that would make the game chore.
For those willing to over look such aspects they can find a pretty decent game.
I give it a 7/10

Highly underrated, a very well-designed tactical strategy game set in the Fallout universe, and a great combination of RPG and micro-management RTS elements, it's more like a Fallout version of Men of War/Call to Arms. But the Steam version seems to have some problems when you launch the game, the GoG version doesn't have such issues.
If you can't launch the game, try these steps below:
1.Hit the Play button from the Steam launcher as normal.
2.Select Play Windowed (Workaround for Windows 8)
3.Select Play from menu launcher.
4.Install this feature if you don't have DirectPlay.
5.Select Options from the title menu.
6.Select the Display tab in the top middle.
7.Select Default in the bottom left.
8.Select Done.
9.Select Exit.
10.Run as normal from the Steam launcher.

Fun and quite a bit more involved tactically than you might think, even if you know the episodes and maps you still have to make the right moves to get through in one piece. Super throw-back as far as graphics, but graphics don't make game play, and this is a fun game to play, especially if you came up on the early iterations of Fallout (I remember playing the free mini-level demo like a dozen times before the game even game out,....I'm old, but so what, been playing since pong and ain't gonna stop now, lol)

good game. Fallout 2 is better but i like this game a lot as it still has that "old fallout" atmospheric. Its mean and very ugly and i like its unforgiving combat, it makes you get better or it makes you stop playing
