Wasteland 2 is what classic Fallout games would be if released today.
Lots of customization, ways to finish the quests, RPG elements and enjoyable turn-based shooting made this game a very satisfying experience for me, and I have serious problems trying to find some actual flaw that could've annoyed me. It's clear as day that the devs behind this masterpiece put all the love and effort they could to make it a true successor to the old, but very good formula, while still adding a lot of enhancements on their own that further polish the gameplay to the upper limits.
I can't state how much I loved the game and every single one of its elements, from writing through characters and locations, ending with gameplay pace and flexibility of decision-making. I can recommend this game to everybody who is looking for a very decent RPG game in post-apocalyptic setting, especially for people like me that can't really stand the archaic design of original Fallouts, but at the same time would love to play something similar.

Wasteland 2 is a bit janky, a bit buggy, and overstays its welcome, but overall it's a good solid Turn-based Tactics RPG that marries the original game (or Classic Fallout if you never played that) with XCOM, and has one of the best paced difficulty curves for an RPG campaign I've ever played for 90% of its length.
The game's biggest issues aren't the minor jank or bugs left in the last version update, but in its outdated and under budgeted presentation overall, a start that can be extremely difficult if the player makes certain choices, and that everything just sort of collapses in a rather lackluster finale with an underwhelming ultimate confrontation against a foe that's trite due to its repetitious buildup and too weak compared to the challenges leading up to the endgame. These issues are solved in Wasteland 3, which takes everything found here and improves upon it immensely (especially the presentation) but the foundations for that success are in this entry, which, you should play first if you really want to understand the context for most of the weightier story decisions there. Also, the soundtrack of this game is incredibly good, and Mark Morgan should be commended for the excellent effort on display as the music carries both the usually sparse soundscape and emotional tenor of WL2 (though the often irreverent writing helps the latter as well).
All in all, I'm glad I finally got through this campaign, because even if the very very end of it wasn't the best, the bulk of the journey to it was more than enjoyable enough to end up a solid experience overall,. Also, the absurd amount of ending slides definitely helped too - they really cover just about everything you could think in this one. Goes to prove that, like when losing one's virginity, a weak climax can be made up for if you hold hands long enough afterwards.

I kickstarted this for $250 in 2012. I've still got the autographed box copy, ammo box, poster, and all that other swag.
When the game finally came out in 2014, it didn't meet my astronomical expectations, but it was reasonably fun. It's hard to get 68 memorable hours out of any video game these days, so that's worth a recommendation from me.
