Undershadows is an interesting game, concept-wise. Imagine a mix between a horror point-and-click adventure and an RPG made in RPG Maker. Can you picture it? I couldn’t either – but here it is.
And honestly, after playing it for about an hour, I’m not quite sure what to say.
The story is intriguing, with a few nice touches of dark humor and references to pop culture (for example – Horatio and his iconic sunglasses removal before delivering a “wise” line).
On the other hand, out of that one hour of gameplay, I actually played for maybe 20 minutes – the rest was taken up by dialogue and long “cutscenes” in the game’s distinctive but rather ugly art style.
All in all – an interesting experiment, though I’m not entirely sure I like it.
