So, its midnight here, and I have to go to bed... amusing how my real-world publishing business is probably going to suffer tomorrow from my lack of sleep due to this simulated publishing game... eventually the time just flew by, and "just one more turn" snuck in... maybe this new book, maybe I can afford better development on it... etc etc
I'm going to be straight up direct here. I went in with low graphic expectations, not knowing what to find (I just know I know the real world publishing biz, and the developer does too). The tutorial is very weak. I played the game 2 or 3 times (briefly), experimenting... my third time into the game and... Impressed!
Maybe its because the music lulls you in with its simplicity and you don't notice the time go by. Maybe its the simulated real-life expectation of gambling on a book publishing deal, because you really believe in the product.
The game starts real slow, but stick with it. Don't go in buy all the features, grow slow. My publishing company, after 2 hours of gameplay is sitting on about half a million dollars, and I still have a level 1 office, without any additional employees. The game is about building your rep and brand, so you can progressively make bigger risks, and bigger profits.
I hope the developer makes a sequel, and those trying the game, give it time to marinade, find the mechanics, experiment, and watch your publishing company take off!
4/5 Stars (1 star less, because the tutorial and help need work).
