This is a story about friendship, depression and the constant evaluation of life. Embark on the journey of your friends and learn about their dark and bright times in life – and yours, too.

In Dark and Bright you play Gourchweasel and his friends and you help them to find out more about that weird world they're travelling through. The game combines some RPG elements with arcade or puzzle elements, but all in all it is a story-driven game with a focus on what's happening to the four friends in that abstract world.
And that's what I like about the game the most - the story is good! Really. I enjoyed it a lot, also a lot more than in some other, bigger and well-known RPGs. The game does a great job in telling the player the right amount of information (or only vague hints in the beginning) so that I was always interested in how the story continues. It all starts with a mysterious cutscene about two unknown characters at a bonfire - then we're following Grouchweasel on his journey. And that journey is weird, confusing, but interesting and also thrilling at the same time. There are many things that made me enjoy it so much - things happening again with small changes to the dialogues, the memories becoming more and more intense as you progress, mysterious characters who sometimes totally confuse you, the whole tone to everything with these simple but weird graphics which fit well to the overall atmosphere. I can't write more about that without spoilers. Maybe this story will also make you think a little bit about your own life, which I find amazing. So, if you're a fan of good stories in RPGs - this might be the right game for you!
The gameplay experience I've had was okay, but nothing spectacular. You need to accomplish several levels to progress with the story. The levels were okay, some were awesome like the disco because of the music and the whole feeling, others were more mediocre I think. The more levels you accomplish, the more and more challenging they become. However, the difficulty was just perfect for me when I played on Normal or sometimes even Challenging. I can't really recommend Difficult, it was too hard and resulted in a permanent death for me, kind of xD
I think after you get used to the characters' special skills, you can have a nice time playing the game. I enjoyed improving their skills and levitating or being invisible for a long time. But I really needed to get used to it. Sometimes I just forgot that a particular skill could have helped me a lot in several situations, which I found out only later.
Also, I just kept forgetting that I unlocked some of the bonus levels. You just tend to forget that after completing a task for an NPC, you need to return to them so that they unlock something for you. I think the interface could be improved here, or at least the player should be reminded or anything.
There is also optional content like a Colosseum where you can fight a lot, or some extra levels which are highly difficult.
All in all, I've had a good experience playing the game and I can definitely recommend it! The story was thrilling and the characters were loveable! There are some RPG Maker games with very good stories out there and I'd say this one is one of them.
The gameplay was okay, but not as exciting as the story.

Great game.
I enjoyed the story form the very intro onward. The game does a good job of delivering a type of introspective story driven style of progression. It made me want to know what these characters were thinking and how things are the way they are.
The gameplay reminds me of a SNES style RPG but with more playful graphics. There is simplicity in the design but it also feels like a lived in world.
I am looking forward to completing the game and I hope more content in the future.

This is a good game, I enjoy it very much! This game has just a tone to it that makes it feel intense in a way, like you're playing something funny and weird in the beginning, but you're well advised to prepare for something big to come. I was thrilled to experience there actually seems to be a deeper meaning behind many of the things that happen. So, after revealing the first memories in the game, I was totally into the story and I'm excited for the outcome of everything, and the fates of the lovely written characters. Totally recommend!
