Heartstop
Heartstop is an emotional, story-driven game, taking place in a world where every living being has suddenly stopped moving.
Play as Cora, who finds herself completely isolated by a mysterious event and is set on finding a way to bring back her friends and family. But as months pass, hope begins slipping away from her and being stuck in one’s mind for so long, can be a scary thing.
While new hope is suddenly sparked when Cora meets a stranger who, as her, seems to have been unaffected by the event, new questions start arising about this girl who is not only moving but also has a completely different outlook on this life.
An uncertain relationship between these two girls begins to form as they seek to unravel the mystery of this petrifying event.

Story/Plot
In Hearsttop, you play as Cora, a young woman who is the only active person in a world in which almost every other person and animal became frozen. Cora does her best to survive in this situation, hoping to find a way to reverse the condition afflicting everyone in the world.
Things stay on this course when one day something new happens in the arrival of Mollie, another young woman who was unaffected by the freezing. The two start to interact with each other, as well as learning about the mystery engulfing them, all the while influenced by the choices you make.
Visuals:
The majority of the game is done reminiscent of 16 bit era graphics, and it works very well, and the characters can be very expressive. Adding to this, most of the dialogue scenes do show sprite work of the major characters as they talk to one another. While some might be put off by the combination of the two styles, I really liked it.
That said, the window for the game is very small. There are no choices in the option menu to enlarge it, but you can do so by clicking the upper right corner of the game screen.
However, one word of warning. There is a dream sequence in the middle of Act II that will cause the screen to free if you enlarge it. Keeping it the same size will allow you to play past it.
Finally, there were more spelling errors than I expected to see, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the game.
Gameplay:
This game is mostly narrative, which means the biggest part of gameplay are actually the choices they make. I am glad to say that the choices aren't all just fluff since there are multiple endings, as well as affecting the relationship between the two young women.
Sound/Music:
The game does have music and boasts sound affects, all of which the developer got from an asset store. While nothing really stands out, it does fit the mood of the game, especially some of the music in the more emotional scenes.
Difficulty:
There really isn't any difficulty in this game per se since the majority of your activities are walking around, and making decisions. There is one puzzle you will need to finish to advance the game, but I didn't find it to hard to solve.
Extras/Achievements:
For those who care about such thing, this game doesn't have any Steam Achievements. The only extras it has is that there are some a few different endings which can add a little replay value for those who liked it.
Recommendation:
Would I recommend the game? I would say yes, for I really enjoyed it. However, I know it might be a tough sell since it is priced at $4.99 US and only took me about 3-4 hours to finish, and some of that was due to the screen freeze I mentioned above.
I definitely know if this dev publishes another story-driven game, I would definitely get it since I enjoyed this so much.

When a game makes you sit on the final choice screen for nearly ten minutes trying to decide (even though you know you can reload the save and pick the other one right away) you know it has you by the heart.
Also confident there were very different ending scenarios I could have found myself in had I made different choices.

My poor little gay heart! The choices you have to make in the end... I stared at the screen for a while.... wow!
I don't know if there's a "happy" ending as I have just finished my 1st play-through, but if you're in a good head-space atm, you should definitely play this. It's beautiful and unique. However, if you're feeling fragile mentally, it might be a little much to handle. The game is very, very gay!

If you're thinking about getting this game, DO IT!
This will forever be my all-time favorite sapphic, story-based game. I love the fact that you can see exactly how your decisions impact the game. While the story is slightly clunky at some points and gets a little confusing at the end, I love that it shows little things about the characters, making it feel a little more personal and not like the characters are just moving through a story. For example, there was one part of it that showed the passing of time, but instead of just showing a sun rising and setting multiple times like some other games, it included little snippets of the characters conversations, and they weren't big conversations! They were just little silly scenes that are really cute to watch, if that makes any sense. The ending was very very great, and I won't give any spoilers, but I will say that I stared at my screen for 5 minutes trying to figure out what decision to make. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend this game for anyone looking for a good sapphic, story-based game. I hope this helps!

This game is a hidden treasure, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. A gripping story line with well-fleshed out characters. An eerie mystery coupled with romance, both working together beautifully and organically. While there are a few little bugs and typos in the game design and text, the majority of the game operates seamlessly, and the story itself more than makes up for any mistakes within the design. An absolute steal for the price it is currently marked as, and definitely worth a look if you enjoy 'choices matter' games with mystery and queer romance.
I've played through this game once, but this game has re-play value just to see where your choices could've led you.

I went into this game shooting for the best possible ending... The chemistry of the leads is infectious and they make for plenty of charming interactions, with meaningful and earned relationship development. But there's a certain inevitable tragedy looming over the narrative that makes for a genuinely difficult series of moral questions near the end.
Plus, there's a ton of unexpected depth to the world if you're willing to explore different choices, see things develop differently, put the pieces together. Which paints a very intriguing picture, I very much recommend giving this a shot!

This Game has it all. Interesting story, loveable and relatable characters and a lot of tears. I loved and hated everything about it, my gay heart wasn't ready for this. Very great game, wasn't expecting this!
