Design tanks in a dedicated and intuitive designer, allowing the realistic armour mechanics that make tank combat so unique. Explore tank design’s challenges through WW1, the interwar period and the early, mid and late stages of WW2.
Please note: There is currently no dedicated tutorial. If you don’t enjoy figuring things out or you don’t know much about tanks, it may be worth holding off until better guidance is in place.
Hull & Turret Shape Design
Easy to use and flexible enough to give you endless design starting points. Drag on a face or edge to move it. Bigger compartments create more internal space but have more surface to armour.
Well angled shapes may bounce incoming shells off entirely, leaving only a scratch and several ringing ears.
Armour Design
Set the thickness of each armour plate, allowing you to block shots from your foes. Though the weight and space used adds up!
Cannon Design
Build a gun capable of piercing enemy armour. You’ll need enough space and force to rotate it. Make sure you save enough room for ammo!
Crew Design
Humans are light but large and quite essential, squeeze them in and assign them one or more roles. Cramped and overworked crew perform poorly.
Attached Parts
Add functional and decorative parts to the exterior of your vehicle. These can define where internals are e.g. the engine is positioned where you place your exhausts and vents, then gets hit if a shell pierces your armour in that area. Place a fuel port in front of the driver and the fuel tank just might absorb a projectile, saving their life – if it doesn’t ignite…
Track Design
Focus your tracks and suspension on trench crossing, mountain climbing, going fast or just looking cool.
Engine Design
Design anything from ship engines to lawnmower engines in a basic powerplant designer.
Fuel Tank Design
Set your fuel capacity and tank locations. Even bring them outside of the vehicle – if you don’t mind them being shot off every now and then.
Transmission Design
Design your ratios – make it faster backwards than forwards or give it a 1st gear that can climb any mountain. One of these on each track will let one side drive while the other reverses, turning on the spot.
Internal Component Health
No hit-points. Vehicles carry on the fight as long as their critical internals are still functioning.
Full Powertrain Simulation
Engines, transmissions & tracks work together to move your tank with a realistic simulation, making vehicles feel like the real thing.
Scenarios
Battle in a range of environments with a team of your custom tanks, although make your design too expensive and you might be on your own. If your vehicle is destroyed, you carry on the fight in control of an ally – sometimes watching your previous self go up in flames.

It's a fun game and it has a lot of potential. But I feel like this game could really benefit from a tutorial. Like, maybe i'm just a total idiot, but it just drops you in with no explanation on how to do anything; and i'm too dumb to figure out how do anything other than the most basic of actions.
That aside, I'll keep playing, the levels are cool and its fun driving the tanks other people have made. And of course I'll try and figure out how to actually build tanks that aren't just blocks with four total road wheels. That's it though. I'd recommend this game to people who are smarter than me, other than that it really needs a tutorial. ciao.

in short, if you really want to build tanks, this is for you. theres a really big learning curve but getting the basics down isnt much. its things like transmissions and engines that really take a lot. the generated compartments are very user friendly to make, however freeform isnt as user friendly, but still not bad. if you want an accurate traction model, as of 12/29/23 it is NOT for you. the game has near endless possibilities in terms of design, and the fact that you can add your own camos and decals helps if you wanna make some kind of country.
id like to point out some stuff about the game:
traction isnt really that big of a deal outside of No Tanks Land (from my experience, and you def should not be playing it first) although it does bug out on light tanks that go extremely fast
if your not making 80+ ton tanks track sniping usually isnt a big deal. if you have any more then 3 tanks on the field its usually not a big problem (again, from my experience)
the game is not abandonwear, sure the dev has made some silly decisions but theyre all good intentioned (such as geometric internals being delayed for so long, with faulty release dates). hamish has stated he will be getting more devs for the game so that should help speed up progress after the GI update comes out.
personally this is my favorite game of all time, and ive played a lot of games. i just keep coming back to this one no matter what, and its one of the few games with an actually real hour count, or alteast close to it. i mean sure theres kind of a lack of missions, but in the present state they allow you to test your designs quite well.

Amazing game for building every armoured vehicle of your dreams, so much potential and so much to do. Its not hard to learn after working out the controls and your design skills will just keep improving with every design. Very cheap for what your getting, no need to wait for a sale when it comes to this game. Instant buy.
