Pixels Guide to Staying Dead
Imagine if health can go below 0. In negative health, you’re an undead skeleton. In positive, a human.
In Pixels Guide to Staying Dead, you have to get your opponents to exactly 0 health to defeat them! Combine your maths skills with your quick reflexes to be the last one standing!
But all maths geniuses need a cool look! Fully customise your character – Gender, Hair, Hat, Facial Hair, Eye Colour, Eyebrow Colour, Skin Colour, Top, Legwear and Shoes. Customise to your liking!
Time for battle! Play along with up to 3 of your friends or family for a shared screen battle! With 6 maps to play on!
Or feeling like teamwork? Split into 2 teams and see which team comes out victorious! A smart non-lethal friendly fire allows you to shoot teammates away from 0 health, essentially allowing you to heal teammates! (This can be adjusted in game)
Don’t have 3 other players? No worries! Games can be played with 2-4 players, any empty slots can be filled with AI! So you can play solo vs AI if you wish!

and now onto the short review
//Description//
Pixels Guide to Staying Dead is a local top down shooter game with an interesting twist- you must bring your opponents to 0 HP. Use your math skills to determine how to do that.
//Graphics, Sound & Artstyle//
there isn't much to say about the graphics as it seems like any other pixel type of game. Sound is nice and found myself humming the main theme.
//Gameplay//
In an interesting turn of events, the top down party shooter takes the players math skills to the test. Along with weapons that vary in different attack points AND also heal points. If you attack an opponent for more HP than they have, they turn into the undead in which then you have to heal your opponents with the objective to getting them to exactly 0 HP.
//How many hours estimated//
I can see myself playing the game for a good 5-10 hours however-the amount of time is increased because the game includes BOTS and also the ability for Remote Play.
//Price//
retail price is 6.99 USD
//Final Thoughts//
Pattern Assembled offered me a key to the Pixels Guide to Staying Dead & I was very interested upon learning about the math concept of it because over the past 10 years games like these have flooded the Steam marketplace. It's definitely a breath of fresh air for those who have basic knowledge of
math. As shown on my video- often a person who doesn't math very well was frustrated with the concept but didnt' deter her from having fun. My only real gripe with the game is the spamming, personally I would have a bit of a cooldown on the initial gun you have just because something like the +5/-5 gun shoots so slowly and not very big spread. I had tons of fun playing with my friends but i can see they were visibly frustrated with some instances- where they were confused on whether to shoot or heal. Plus they stood no chance against the Flamethrower LOL but I digress. If you want to play something a little different from the normal I'd recommend it but only with friends. I appreciate the inclusion of bots but games like the Pixels Guide to Staying Dead is always more fun with friends, A+ to the devs for trying to change games like these up- but for the retail price I feel like you can buy a more complete game for a few bucks more. I'd Wait for Sale just because in my experience friends will be put off by the aspect of math. Definitely more a game for the people who like using their noodle more.
