This is a walking sim where we take control of Dragomir and we need to arrange funeral services following the passing of his wife. The story takes place during Halloween so expect to see a lot of jack-o'-lanterns! Now, a free game usually does not have such detailed graphics. You notice this immediately as you look around in the house of Dragomir.
Our journey will later continue outside and while the playable area is not that big the game remains just as detailed throughout. I don't mind the Romanian voice acting as the subtitles are fine. With Dragomir it is always clear what our next task is. The game does not give you any challenge - emphasis in on the immersion and on understanding Dragomir's decision-making process as he gets more and more desperate for a noble goal.
I liked this game a lot. It has a surprising ending and certainly puts Darkania Works in the focus. Do try it if you have 40 minutes to spare.

"The Unluckiest Man" is a short narrative driven walking sim with surprisingly decent graphics and a somewhat dark and depressing story... but you get a lot for not a lot of money, relatively.
The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. Here, you get a reasonably even match, enough to give this a pass.
Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game.
Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Yes, believe it or not. While this is far from a perfect game, the deficiencies and drawbacks can be overlooked due to the zero up front price and the value you get out of it. It's greater than the sum of its parts, and worth downloading if you're a fan of this kind of gaming experience.

A very short game or more walking simulator, about a poor man loosing his wife.
There is quite some storytelling for such a short game, it was quite nice, especially for free and from Romania.
I loved that it was voiced completely in romanian, and it looked rather good.
But lovecraftian ... it was not :D

Great atmosphere. Nothing compares to the first snow falling a late evening

This short story is interesting considering the fact that I haven't seen similar content before, the game being fully dubbed in Romanian. I hope to see more such games in the future, maybe some longer ones.

A short story that was a fun and quick play. I spent more than necessary wandering about looking at all the art, scenery, and people just to enjoy. I appreciated this game and the artistry.

A linear short story set in Romania. The environments are very well-made, with so much attention to detail that it has, as in Gray Dawn, a horror vacui style which makes the interiors quite claustrophobic. The voice acting is good but the English translation is rough, and the music selections are distracting and odd (British Airways ruined the Flower Duet long ago). Well worth playing as an example of southeastern European style in a game setting.
