Its a nice twist on ghost hunting. 4 player multiplier.. recommended with a team, but you can play with just two people and still have a blast!

Step into a dangerous profession where survival is never guaranteed and every mission carries the possibility of disaster. In SO BELOW, players enter the service of HEXA GmbH, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats hidden inside cursed and haunted properties. The company provides the equipment, the training, and the opportunity to build a reputation as an elite exorcist. The responsibility for staying alive, however, belongs entirely to the player.
The world of SO BELOW transforms paranormal investigation and exorcism into a high-risk profession where preparation matters just as much as courage. Every haunted location hides different dangers, and every supernatural entity demands a unique approach. Some spirits can be dealt with quickly using trusted tools and proper execution. Others require significantly more effort, pushing players into complicated rituals, environmental problem-solving, dangerous encounters, and intense confrontations where one mistake can lead to failure.
Progression revolves heavily around learning and adaptation. Success is not built purely through reflexes or speed. Knowledge becomes one of the most important resources available. Players must understand the behavior of hostile entities, recognize environmental clues, and determine which methods work best against different supernatural threats. The game encourages observation and careful planning rather than reckless action.
The exorcism systems themselves serve as one of the central pillars supporting the experience. Each encounter presents opportunities to apply tools and rituals in different ways depending on the threat involved. Traditional protective instruments stand alongside specialized equipment and supernatural relics, creating a toolkit that expands possibilities while demanding mastery from players willing to survive increasingly dangerous assignments.
Some encounters remain straightforward enough to manage with preparation and proper execution. Others evolve into larger challenges requiring puzzle solving, ritual completion, and survival under pressure. Certain threats become persistent obstacles capable of forcing players into adaptation rather than repetition. The variety helps maintain tension while reinforcing the importance of understanding both equipment and enemy behavior.
The game also embraces cooperative multiplayer as a major component of its identity. Facing supernatural horrors alone presents one kind of challenge. Entering dangerous locations alongside teammates creates something entirely different. Cooperation becomes a valuable survival tool. Communication matters. Coordination matters. Teams must work together to investigate environments, identify threats, complete objectives, and survive encounters that become increasingly dangerous as operations escalate.
Exploration carries significant importance throughout progression. Haunted properties contain hidden information, environmental details, and critical clues that help determine how best to approach each exorcism. Success depends not simply on reacting to danger but understanding what kind of danger exists in the first place. Teams that rush blindly into encounters may quickly discover that courage alone offers little protection.
One particularly interesting aspect comes from the game’s approach to map design. Locations combine handcrafted structure with unpredictable elements that create greater replay value. Environmental layouts can shift between sessions. Entity positioning changes. Dangerous areas evolve. The result creates investigations that remain less predictable over time, forcing players to rely on experience and adaptability rather than memorization.
This evolving structure strengthens tension significantly because familiarity never completely removes uncertainty. Players may recognize a location while still encountering entirely new problems hidden inside it. Every mission becomes a balance between preparation and improvisation.
The emphasis on unique supernatural entities further strengthens long-term engagement. Different threats demand different solutions. Tools that succeed during one operation may prove ineffective elsewhere. Ritual knowledge becomes increasingly important alongside practical survival skills. The game continuously reinforces the idea that mastery comes through learning rather than repetition.
SO BELOW also builds atmosphere around danger and vulnerability rather than empowerment. Players are professionals, but professionalism alone offers no guarantees. The constant possibility of failure creates pressure that reinforces horror elements throughout exploration and encounters.
The progression loop ultimately encourages improvement through experience. Failed attempts become learning opportunities. Successful exorcisms reward understanding and teamwork. Every completed mission contributes toward developing stronger instincts and greater confidence when facing increasingly dangerous supernatural challenges.
The world of SO BELOW presents paranormal investigation not as fantasy heroism but as dangerous work performed under difficult conditions where preparation, cooperation, and knowledge determine survival. It combines cooperative horror, puzzle-solving, supernatural encounters, and evolving environmental design into a structure that rewards both individual skill and team coordination.
For players who enjoy cooperative horror experiences, paranormal investigation themes, unpredictable encounters, and progression systems built around mastery and adaptation, SO BELOW delivers an experience where every mission becomes a test of preparation, teamwork, and nerve. Enter carefully, trust your tools, trust your team, and above all else, do not die.

I wish there was an unstuck button. It's not as scary as some of the other games I've played. I like that it's a little more complicated, like trying to decipher cuniform and such. My problem is that I kept glitching and getting stuck behind shelves. Loading in initially was rough. We had to change up the key bindings when we got in because they were funky. Once we had that settled we then had to mess with the Mic settings. I don't like that the team mic doesn't work between lobby and map. So if you fail, you need to plan in advance if you want to replay or go back to HQ, because you can't hear each other in the in-between menu. We got through the first one and had a successful mission. It was the second one with the tiny-subway map where we kept getting stuck between an object and the wall. Probably would have played more if it didn't glitch so much.
