Saving New York in the new Spider-Man 2 game is a big task for Miles and Peter. With the introduction of a more expansive version of the city, numerous new side missions have emerged, including "Marco's Memories," where players help the troubled Sandman by exploring his shattered memories scattered throughout the city.
"Marco's Memories" consist of 14 crystals, each guarded by a group of villains. They can be found in different districts of the city, and completing them not only earns experience and additional story content but is also necessary for achieving a 100% completion of the game and earning the platinum trophy.
The first memory is located in Central Park, and the rest are distributed in various areas, such as Chinatown, the Financial District, Greenwich, Little Odessa, Midtown, Williamsburg, and Central Brooklyn. Each memory represents a separate mission in which Miles can use his electricity-based abilities.
It's important to note that, unlike some side missions, completing these memories won't unlock new costumes, but they do provide a significant amount of experience and add interesting elements to the game's story. This is particularly relevant for players aiming for 100% completion and the platinum trophy.
Central Park
The first sand crystal can be found in Central Park, hidden in the southeast corner of the area. Searching for this crystal requires exploring the western shore of the lake in this location.
Chinatown
Sand Crystal №1
The first sand crystal in Chinatown is located on the southwestern border of the district, very close to the Financial District. It's important to note that it can be easily confused with that district. This crystal is hidden in the center of an alley between brick and red brick buildings.
Sand Crystal №2
The second crystal in Chinatown is in the northern part of the district, where tall buildings create a unique plus sign shape. To find it, you'll need to explore the rooftops in this area.
Central Brooklyn
The only sand crystal in Central Brooklyn is located near the park in the center of the district. It's situated in an alley between two tall buildings. Be aware that this area sometimes experiences crimes, and you may encounter both thugs and sand monsters.
Financial District
Sand Crystal №1
The first sand crystal in the Financial District becomes available during the second main mission of the game. After updating the FNSM app, Miles receives a request to rescue citizens from a fire. After completing the task and descending through the rubble, you'll find this crystal. After extracting the memory from the crystal, you'll be attacked by sand creatures, and you'll need to clear the area of them. Then, return to the crystal and press "Triangle" to extract the memory "She Left."
Sand Crystal №2
This memory is located in a park at the very south of Manhattan Island. The crystal, from which a battle with sand monsters begins, is located close to the park's shoreline.
Sand Crystal №3
The third sand crystal in the Financial District is located on the roof of a white building on the southeast coast of the district. After defeating the sand monsters, the crystal awaits you in the northeast corner, near a tower.
Sand Crystal №4
The final memory in the Financial District is located near the northern border of the district. It's positioned in the middle of an alley between three buildings, two of which are on the street, effectively marking the district's boundary.
Greenwich
The only sand crystal in Greenwich is on the western part of this district, in the center of a basketball court surrounded by trees.
Little Odessa
This sand crystal can be found in the northwest corner of Little Odessa. It's located near the highway, not far from the bridge leading to Chinatown. The crystal is on the roof of the Loaves and Wishes Bakery factory, at the base of the eastern smokestack.
Midtown
Sand Crystal №1
The first memory in Midtown is situated in the southwest corner of the district, in the backyard between a red and a white building.
Sand Crystal №2
The second memory in Midtown is in the center of the eastern part of the district. The crystal is on the roof of a building located southeast of Grand Central Terminal. The much taller Colexco building rises above the terminal.
Williamsburg
The only sand crystal in Williamsburg is slightly north of the bridge leading to Chinatown. Look for a residential complex with large steps next to the bridge. The crystal is at the base of the factory's sole smokestack, located to the north of the residential complex.
Central Brooklyn
The final memory of Marco in Central Brooklyn is unique, as it becomes accessible only after you've found all the other sand crystals on the map. When that happens, this crystal appears on the western coast of Downtown Brooklyn, at the base of a concrete column surrounded by a fence.
After you discover and activate this crystal, you'll enter Marco's mind. At this stage, you'll face a gigantic crystal that needs to be destroyed by throwing rocks using L1+R1 (similar to the boss fight at the beginning of the game). However, be cautious, as sand monsters will attack you after the first hit. Make sure you're not being attacked before throwing. After successfully hitting the target four or five times, the spikes will disappear along with the sand monsters.
In conclusion, after completing all of Marco's Memories in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, you'll be transported to the Astoria district, where you can interact with the front door of a modest house. For your perseverance, you'll receive 20 city tokens, 2000 experience points, and, of course, the platinum trophy.
