An astronaut has crash-landed on an alien planet, and it’s started to rain… seeds.
Germination is an arcade-style platformer about surviving an onslaught of carnivorous flora by stomping on their heads. Chain consecutive stomps to double-jump endlessly and combo your way to bonuses and powerups. You’ll need to make precise work of your jumping – the only platforms you’ll find are your enemies’ heads.
Features:
- Difficult campaign hiding a deadly boss.
- Endlessly-looping Hard Mode for overachievers.
- Nursery with Unlockable Plant Biographies and artwork.
- Hand-drawn pixel animations and original soundtrack.

TLDR:I admit I am pretty awful at Germination but it is still an enjoyable and fair arcade style platformer. This game combines aspects of Mario Galaxy, Risk of Rain and Downwell, if you have any interest in those then check out this game especially at the reasonable price it goes for.
Arcade style platformers can be quite fun and good for pick up and play sessions. Germination is one such platformer that is enjoyable and one of those easy to play and challenging to master games (or I'm just bad). Your character spawns on a planetoid where seeds begin to fall down. These seeds when they land begin to germinate into all kinds of fun plant life that just want to make your day bad. The objective is simple jump on these raining seeds and any plants that grow. Once you start comboing jumps your score multiplier increases but also your momentum. Keeping your combo going is important for two reasons as it increases your score and a high enough multiplier will allow you to smash through the planetoid. The longer you stay alive the more dangerous and numerous the plants become. If you get hit three times it is game over, luckily heart shaped seeds will rain down these heal if you jump on them, so keep an eye out.

Germination is somewhat similar to a platformer, but without the platforms. A "seed-er"maybe?
Your character is on a tiny planet which is constantly being attacked by alien plants which you have to jump onto in order to kill. You start with 3 lives and get occasionall extra live drops. You can only move left/right and jump (including jumping on the falling seeds and using them as platforms) which makes dodging attacks difficult.
This is a simple but challenging game, it's not suitable for a casual audience.

Germination is a game where you deal with a terrible plant inestation by utilizing the fact that you weigh a lot more than flowers. It is another "simple but difficult" indie game, but manages to pull a good deal of my time and respect. Your speed is directly related to your combo and how high you're bouncing, turning your sluggish spaceman into a high-flying weed-killing superhero as long as you don't touch the ground. While it is an indie game, and it is difficult, there are no cheap deaths. You can want to be mad at the game, but Germination gives you i-frames, shields, and isn't stingy on the health pickups. All in all, this is a great game for anybody who values quick-paced platforming, reaching high scores, or just hates flowers.

Germination is one of those games that allows you to easily hop into it and figure out what's going on. You move around, you jump, and jumping on enemies kills them.
You can go higher and faster if you don't touch the ground, which gets you more points. It does well by making things as simple as possible, but adds actual intricacy in how you approach it.
The art style is charming, with music that accompanies it. Everything feels fluid and seamless which lets you easily get involved in the game as you jump around and try to ruin these plant's day.

I've found myself enjoying Germination quite a bit. 14 hours in, I still have not beaten the final boss, however frustrating that may be I still come back to it. That's a testament to how solid the main mechanic can be. I really enjoy continuously stomping weird plants, especially when every new attempt is a different set of germinations, no iteration is like the previous, it does not feel repetitive.
Some players might get into very easily and find the activity easy yet satisfying (aiming for the high score), while others will struggle to beat their friends' scores.
I recommend checking out Germination, it's a solid game with grounded mechanics and an addictive arcade-y competitive quality.

Got under the top100 - enough. Nice game. Does exactly what it intends to do. Tough as nails. Not for casuals.

It just came out, so I haven't gotten to spend much time with it yet, but even so - Germination is definitely a fun little game, and as a fellow game designer, I'd like to give it some love to help it...grow. (Get it?! Grow?! LIKE GERMINATE!)
You play as a little rocket man, caught in an endless loop as you do laps around a tiny little planet. All the while, you must demonstrate your dominance over the local flora...or are they fauna? Or both? You'll find out eventually because as you play, it seems you can unlock some more information on these poor creatures that you turn into your stomping fodder, and put that knowledge into a tome for posterity.
The only complaint I have is that there appears to be a bit of a stutter in the graphics every few steps you take around the planet. I'm not sure if others are experiencing this - but it is definitely noticable and detracts from the enjoyability of the game. Other than this though - Germination is a solid arcade/high score title, and I'll probably end up putting in a few hours here and there as time wears on. It's addictive, with adequate movement, and decent binge mechanics - but I think the normal asking price of 4 bucks is a bit high for what the game has to offer.
Regardless, I'm satisfied. And as a sucker for pixel art, I gotta say some of the animations are really well done! Bravo on the game, dudes.
