I 100%-ed the game in extreme difficulty so here are my opinions. Overall, I love this game, even though I wouldn't consider it worth the deluxe $90. I got it on sale for $9, including all the DLC. I had a lot of fun playing the base game and exploring the world as Luffy, as well as getting to experience the game as the DLC characters. If you're a hardcore OP fan, or tend to enjoy anything OP, then you should buy this game (on sale). But this game has some problems and is a bit of a let down considering it's 1) a $90 game, 2) a lackluster open world, and 3) came out in 2019 and has these problems.
It's no secret that One Piece games tend to be a little lackluster for such a big franchise backed by a wealthy company. The PC port is severely lacking in proper setup. You'll notice the guides in the steam community section, those are seriously going to help you not waste time setting the game up so it both looks and sounds good. Be expecting the game to play like garbage if you boot it up without tweaking the settings appropriately. Honestly, that is the most annoying aspect of this game but at least it's an easy fix.
My other complaints have to deal with the open world, or more specifically that you cannot interact with any of the "background" buildings. You can see that NPC's in the buildings are frozen in time, maybe eating, buying clothing, or talking. But you cannot interact with any of it. For a game that boasts such a high price tag, I expect that sort of attention to detail in the world. I'm not asking for every single building to offer some unique experience, but just for a few neat locations where you can interact with the world and the people.
Another issue is that the music in the game will often play once, and then you'll be left running/flying around the area in silence. I didn't notice it at first, but sometimes you'll be casually chest hunting only to realize "Oh, there's no music". The game does offer a music box option in menu, where you can play any track in the game, but the music shouldn't even be cutting out in the first place (you know, because it's a $90 game).
I don't personally consider this a con but it can get repetitive so I will mention it. There are "go here and do this and come back to me" side quests. The mass majority of those missions are actually ones you'll be doing to raise your karma with your crew mates, which are optional, but getting to speak to them and help them out is fine with me. I do wish there was more variety, but I feel it adds to the overall story of the game.
You do not get to play as any of the Straw Hats in the base game. I get that the world is designed for Luffy, and it makes sense that he's the playable character, but man the DLC characters proved that the option to be able to play as the rest of them should have been there. Only problem is it would have been painful to max out the skill tress of every single member, but considering the lack of options, it's still disappointing.
I experienced this problem because I am playing on a laptop that does not have a number pad, so maybe this won't be an issue for those of you with one or for those who choose to play with a controller. But Karoo, a DLC feature, was unusable for me. If you select that mission and head to the start location, you will soft lock yourself out of the game, unless you quit, connect a controller, load it back up, and use the thumb sticks to call for Karoo. It's a minor inconvenience, but another example of being a semi-poor PC port.
Lastly, and this is 100% just my opinion, but Kizaru is way too prevalent in this game (I hate Kizaru).
Now onto the things I liked about the game.
The story. The story is great. I love OP and getting to experience a new story with the Straw Hats was a lot of fun. I do wish there was more dialogue between the Straw Hats, but from what we do get, I enjoy it. The DLC stories are just as fun as well, adding to the overall story.
Even though the world lacks interaction, it's big and fun to travel around. Luffy uses gum-gum rocket to fling himself around the world, and it's really so fun to just fly as long as possible. Plus, if you do get tired of flinging yourself around the world, there's always the fast travel option.
The music, although it cuts out and leaves you in silence once the track finishes playing, is great. I wish there was more music, or that we could get some of the openings/endings and iconic soundtracks from the anime that you could play from the music box section, but what we get is nice.
The battles are the main draw and most entertaining aspect of the game. People will tell you in their reviews that the standard difficulty is not difficult. They're probably right. I don't know because I decided to play it on extreme the entire time so it was a challenge and a struggle for a long time to not die in a single hit. However, that meant I just had to play smarter and allocate my skill points efficiently. I'd say for me, playing on extreme was the right call and made the game all the more enjoyable. Skill points are what allows you to use Luffy's (or the DLC characters) abilities, including new moves, efficient and quicker exploration and gathering, special moves, and gear fourth buffs. Also getting to see and use his moves from the anime was pretty fun. The boss fights are also very fun and challenging, plus you get to see and fight plenty of characters from the anime. This is just my opinion, but beating Kizaru to death repetitively is fun, and you cannot change my mind. Lastly, this is only available to you after you beat the base game, but the boss rush challenge is fun, and tough if you haven't maxed out your skill tree.
That's it. I do really like this game and will come back to it (thank god I will never have to get top grade on those challenge missions ever again). I'm an OP fan and I wouldn't recommend this game to you if you weren't. As fun as it, there's plenty of things that should have been in this ($90) game. But if you like beating up goons, traversing the world, paying attention to the story, encountering important characters from the anime, and a hint of annoying setup, then this game is probably for you.

Welcome to Prison Island
One Piece: World Seeker is an action-adventure game where you play as Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, from a third person perspective. It is also the first open world title in the series. Having obtained all the base game achievements (I will be returning to the DLC at a later date) and amassing nearly 50 hours, I will be listing all the positives and negatives, so you can decide whether it will be worth your time.
Positives
+ An original story written by series creator Eiichiro Oda. It's nothing groundbreaking, so don't expect the same quality you get from the manga, but it's solid enough to keep you interested until you reach the end. There are two new characters and the villain is ok at best, but he isn't someone who stands out much.
+ Visually, the game is impressive. From the moment you land on the island, it instantly draws you in. The detail put into the landscape is great. Whether that be a town, city, plaza, naval base, forests, etc. The game does have flaws, but this isn't one. The cutscenes and cinematics all look quite sharp as well.
+ The map is big. It will take you a fair bit of time to discover and explore everything. You will unlock the use of fast travel later on, but uncovering the map is a fun experience. The island easily feels like something that would fit into the One Piece universe. The wanted posters from the show of the crew and other characters you can find I thought were a nice touch.
+ There are various skills you can unlock for Luffy through gaining XP from defeating enemies and completing missions. To be precise, six different skill trees are present for you to upgrade. Combat will come across as slow at the start, but this will open up in due time as you get to use a number of abilities.
+ The Japanese voice actors reprise their roles from their characters in the anime and do an excellent job as you expect.
+ The story is a suitable length, and that's not taking into account all the sidequests, collectibles, upgrades and working on achievements (if you care). Basically, you will have to put in a considerable number of hours if you want to get everything. There's normally something to do so you won't get bored.
+ Photo mode allows you to set filters and tweak the appearance settings of pictures in order to take your favourite screenshot. As someone who takes a ton of screenshots of games, a small feature like this goes a long way for me. Just try not to take them all of Nami and Robin if you can help it.
+ The equipment system enables you to use materials found across the island to craft gear and boost your different styles and customise your own playstyle as you see fit. For example, focus more on observation haki over armament haki or vice versa. You can even upgrade the same equipment more than once to get a superior version, but it's not always guaranteed.
+ You can collect outfits from arcs of the series and films and then have Luffy change into them at the Thousand Sunny.
Negatives
- Combat can become somewhat repetitive. Later on in the game, you'll most likely find yourself repeating the same move over and over in battles just to get rid of the enemies faster.
- Stealth combat is badly executed. You'll be able to take one target out unaware, but more often than not, groups are so close to one another, they will be alerted straight afterward.
- The sniper enemy types can be frustrating beyond belief. One of the most annoying parts about combat in this game is when you get shot backwards, and you lose control of your character for a few seconds. I stuck to normal difficulty throughout my game and thought it was challenging enough, but I can only imagine how horrendous they are on the three higher difficulties. Yes, you read that right. There's hard, very hard and extreme. I wouldn't advise you to go on those, however, but you do you.
- Too many of the missions have you doing the same task. Speak to someone - Go to a location - Beat up some pirates or sailors - Head back. They could have freshened it up a little.
- The music could have been much better. It sounded generic and sometimes similar. Whether I was in a town, city, or in battle. It was more of the same. Not awful, but not memorable.
- Besides the DLC with Law, Sabo and Zoro, you only play as Luffy. It would have been cool to have seen some missions played out as other straw hats rather than simply only talking to them as an NPC. Even if they weren't fleshed out with abilities.
- You can't explore the Thousand Sunny fully! Ok, this is a minor gripe, but I would have liked to have seen the inside of the ship. Maybe place some Easter eggs in there from the anime.
- The game can stutter and lag in places. Perhaps this was down to my own PC. It wasn't often, and you might have to play around with the screen and graphic settings more than once.
- Remember to manually save frequently! The game only autosaves after important story events. I learned the hard way once, that if you die, you lose all progress. Materials gathered, skills unlocked, chests opened, you name it. It was a killer. Don't always rely on autosave. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Conclusion
Is this the perfect One Piece game? It isn't by a long shot, but do I regret my time with it? Absolutely not. Despite the setbacks it has, if you are into One Piece, there's a strong chance you will become immersed in this game as I was and get hooked. I plan to return in the near future and complete the DLC so I can reach 100%. Far as an open world One Piece game goes, you won't find much better. I do want to try Odyssey out, but as an avid One Piece fan, I can do nothing but highly recommend this. I would suggest you buy it on sale. I wouldn't pay more than £20, and it was under £10 when I bought it. Thank you for reading my review!

I can't stress how good of a game this is.
If you love One Piece this game is for you, I 100%'d Burning Blood, Pirate Warriors 4, and started Odyssey and this one is the BEST by far.
I really hope there is a sequel or at least a very similar style game because it is phenomenal.
Edit: I would still recommend getting it on sale, $60 is not a fair price for any game to be honest.
