Disclaimer: I have only played the game in english.
"Araka~JK Exorcist Horror RPG" is a horror adventure game. You play as a novice exorcist with telepathic powers. Through touching items, you view residual memories. Neat power, right? WRONG. You'll view hell in the first person and you won't even be able to scream... Are you strong enough to save your girlfriend Araka? She is a professional high ranked exorcist and has gone missing 2 months now after being tasked with investigating and possibly cleansing the Other World. That specific one is very cruel on female exorcists and will try with all its evil force to deprive dignity.
I didn't encounter any annoying bugs and the game runs smoothly. Plenty of save slots and an awesome gallery that you can prematurely unlock and view all the scenes. Multiple endings! Your choices matter and greatly alter the outcome. Be careful of how your actions affect your vitality meter, and not only (you get a text line informing you of changes).
The translation is bad. It requires effort to understand what is going on and what they are saying, especially considering the nature of their talks. The text is extensive and difficult. At times we lose a few characters off the screen so we can't read the full sentence but only imagine what might had been said. It doesn't lose it's magic though. It's worth the effort to understand it.
You can choose to view the horror content or no (skip scene function).
Warning: The game is VERY twisted. I loved the bottom line and the way it is expressed. It's very powerful but, I must stress out that if you can't stand torture, degradation, humiliation and below 18 girls, then this game isn't for you.
The game focuses on human emotions and ways to completely break a person physically and emotionally. Through Araka's and other girls torture and rape scenes, we discover something deeper everytime. Strength of character matters, motives matter, willpower will make you or break you. Sometimes, it isn't clear if something is bad or good. It can be both at the same time... The horrors of the girls unmask a cruel world that, in the end, are we sure it's one of hell? You'll start seeing the similarities soon enough... Deep down the cruelty, we can see and simple next door people being capable of doing the same thing in essence. The game glorifies things and most of them can't even happen and defy every physics law and anatomy.
It's a gruesome metaphor full of teachings that will stick with you and hopefully make you a better person. Perhaps it isn't easy to imagine how such a gory game can accomplish this, but it does. You'll see it fast enough through the dialogue and reactions. The bad endings help a lot in this regard. Even on the good endings you are in for a big surprise!
It succeeds in getting across the message! You need to carefully read the dialogue to understand how smart and devious it is. Perhaps a little more pessimistic than it should be but given the filth that surrounds the plot, it was predictable. Alas, not all hope is lost! The ultimate sacrifice to save humanity is tricky... Saving Araka is complicated as well. Even if you manage to find her and she is still alive, is she the Araka you once knew?...
The artwork is very good and detailed! Fully uncensored!
You will find humiliating scenarios, gruesome adult scenes, impossible positions, torture, gangbang, rape, degradation, excremation, bugs, unknown creatures. Just think of everything normal and then throw it out the window! What remains is in this game and then some! ^^
One of the tougher games to swallow on steam (and not only...) but it has been done perfectly! Just like other brilliant horror works on the big screen and books, this one has a lot to say for humanity!
The artistical choices and the use or absence of color, contribute a lot to the atmosphere! Same for the voice over parts and the soundtrack.

Get this if you love horror and black and white scenes. Don't get this if you're looking for lots of JK steamy scenes and good CPN. This reads like a photo dump from a few Chinese/Japanese guys. There is one scene with notably good voice acting. It's fine at a good discount.
This is really borderline for me. This is a Chinese Competitive Horror game, translated to Japanese and then English, probably by the same person as the translation is pretty good. My main issue is the scenes go downhill quickly... for me it peaks at the toilet scene... everyother scene fails to live up to that. You don't get to see her face there, so what's the point?
The gore level is 7/10, I've seen much worse. There is no self-unavailing and very limited abortion play. You do see dead people... but you leave them alone.
I'm bailing. For me, single good scene and a nice moan does not make a game. Chinese body writing and dialog options should not be in an English/Japanese JRPG. If you want to do black and white, it better be interactive and have GREAT voice acting... like Living with Sister. This is a borderline bad game... but I don't like horror, and I do want to support H-games. I'm still of the opinion that horror and H, simply don't mix. I hope they do better next time (Update: they did. Kakuriyo village is AMAZING).
