Disclaimer: I got the game for free from the solo dev on Reddit. He kindly offered it to those interested in testing the game, without expecting anything in return. Now that I've beaten the game, I felt that posting a review would be the least I could do! Does it mean my review is biased? Not at all! Spoiler alert: the game is well worth the price.
Not quite sure how to describe Astronium, other than saying it plays like a Metroidvania, progression and world-wise, with Souls-Like combat and retro aesthetics.
I played the game on my Steam Deck, and I'm happy to report that the controller support works well.
The game's key features include:
Metroidvania-style world map with interconnected areas to explore
Weapons with stats and special attacks
Upgradable weapons
Monsters with different attack patterns
Bosses
One thing to note is that the game requires a lot of backtracking and moving within the levels, which can be a bit tedious at times. The character doesn't move super quickly, and the levels are pretty big, so it can take some time to get around. Additionally, traveling around the world map can get a bit tedious after a while, since there are very few shortcuts and no way to teleport around or similar.
The game's soundtrack is also somewhat limited, with only two tracks that I noticed - one for exploration and one for combat - and the exploration track can get old very quickly.
Despite these small flaws, I still enjoyed the game overall. I'd like to thank the developer again for providing me with a free key, and I'm glad I could play and review the game. Even though I got it for free, I'd say it's well worth the cheap price. Really, I have no major complaints about the game, and I think it's a great effort from a solo developer.

A fun, fairly short but challenging little soulslike! It wasn't always the most clear where I was meant to go (particularly with the key that can randomly drop from enemies in the ice zone and some of the keys not being clear what doors they do and don't unlock) so I ended up doing things a bit out of order and breezing through some of the earlier bits with a way-too-strong weapon, but it was fun! I really like the system of needing to defeat enemies in order to be able to potentially get a stronger weapon, and it's cool that there's a variety of different types of weapons for you to choose from!

Pretty fun little soulslike. The combat takes a little getting used to but once you do it flows really nicely.
