Kiss/OFF
ABOUT THE DEMO
Kiss/OFF: AUDITION is a prologue to Kiss/OFF, a comedy visual novel set for release later in 2023. You play as Vic Powers, college track star and all-around charmer. Vic has a big day ahead of him — he plans to ask out *that special person* he’s had a crush on for the past few weeks. However, when he receives a threatening phone call from the mysterious ‘X,’ he’s given a challenge: If he CAN’T successfully ask out his crush, Vic will never see them again. With each failure (or success), reality resets and changes in unpredictable ways. What follows is an introduction to Steffi, Arturo, and Risq, the three main alien love interests of ‘Kiss/OFF,’ as well as the complete breakdown of reality as Vic knows it.
Xargazorg Intergalactic proudly presents Kiss/OFF, the hottest new dating show in the galaxy! Six Contestants have been Involuntarily Volunteered™ to pair off and SQUARE off in a supercharged dating royale. Whichever couple has the most passionate, *magical* kiss at the end of the three days wins the Ultimate Prize: They get to go back home to their families! The losing team gets the Ultimate Second Place Prize: Horrible, fiery death!

I love the art, the characters, everything! It's also super cool that every new playthrough can add to the story. It was very enjoyable and all the endings were super interesting. The partial voice acting also really added to the experience

A super easy recommend, because Kiss/OFF is a LOT of fun, I had a blast!
After 11 hours I am missing one ending and half of the achievements.
Accidentally spoiler'd myself for the "bad" true ending so I pursued that first and then the "good" one and the story of the game going from bad to good was super satisfying. I love the characters (literally all of them except the antagonist, that character is annoying...) and how different the dynamics feel with all of them! All dateable characters have moments I really enjoy, both in "good" and "bad" routes.
Repetition is built into the story in a way that makes it so there's a reason you're going through the same scenes again and again, but while there's a skip button there's also plenty of moments where it feels like you've already seen it but the game won't let you skip (minor annoyance in the gameplay imo), but I liked the graphics, the music, and the writing a lot!
There's a lack of guides on Steam but playing through it mostly blind was fun to me too, and I don't know if I want to go back and achievement hunt, because it ended on SUCH a high note I want this to be the "end" of the story. The "good" true ending is amazing!

I'm honestly very surprised that this game hasn't received more attention. The premise is unique, the characters are all very well done, the voice acting actually made me tear up at one point and the story is all in all very enjoyable. The dialogue had me laughing fairly often and there wasn't a single character that I ended up disliking. Honestly, I'd say the only real complaint I have is I still have no idea how to go about getting the final fifth ending for each character.
Do play if:
- you're looking for unique character backstories and story lines
- you enjoy unraveling mysteries
- you're looking to feel a spectrum of emotions
- you enjoy exploring multiple endings
Don't play if:
- you're looking for a one and done run with only one character
- you don't like octopi

Looks like a simple dating sim at first glance, neither audio nor video seem outstanding and the controls are more than a little finnicky - but hoo boy, the plot layers.
Between lots of silly choices, meme references all around, characters that very much are not what they may be perceived as at first, and finally genuinely sophisticated underlying societal commentary, Kiss/OFF truly is a gem - if a somewhat rough one. (And, most of all, the content-vs-price balance is really good for the usually short genre that are VNs, even when it's not on sale.)

This one flew under EVERYBODY'S radar but I'm really glad I somehow caught notice of it because Kiss/OFF was a total blast start to finish. This is one of the best western visual novels I've ever played -- every character is fantastic and there's a ton of alternate paths based on how well or badly you treat them.
The only downside is after a few runs, it can get a bit repetitive going through the motions with each character to find all the endings. Even so, whenever the game branches from its base storyline -- which happens more often than you'd think -- it's extremely entertaining, and the true ending in particular was a blast to run through after what it took to get there.
The artwork and music are top tier throughout and it had me constantly guessing what was going to happen next. This one's an absolute hidden gem and I had a fantastic time.

game has a lot more depth than i gave it credit for on a first playthrough, all the characters are charming even those that initially come off as unapproachable, overall i found it very enjoyable
