This was a very enjoyable game and I feel sad to walk away from it having finished it. The music was chill and I loved the driving mechanic, it was very immersive with the ability to turn the radio on, check side mirrors, and fill up the bus with gas as I drove through the islands. The story was fun and I thought that grandma's voice actor did a fantastic job. Grandma was also written as a complex character with flaws of her own, which I thought was a great choice to show realism. I also enjoyed the cooking process, despite all the various bugs I encountered. There were bugs that required me to restart the game and at times I even lost items to the nether. But they didn't stop me from enjoying and finishing the game.

Whenever I went to buy this game, I was put off by the mixed reviews. I finally caved in May after seeing 40% off, bugs be damned. I have 100% the game in 27 hours and I did not experience any game breaking bugs or glitches like the ones you will read about in these reviews.
I did experience some annoying ones like the screen going black randomly when I entered a specific area, not being able to fill the bus with gas, customers leaving the queue or changing their order after I prepared their original order. All of these could be fixed by saving and restarting the game. Some reviews mention their bus became stuck in the ground and impossible to move and while this never happened to me, there is an 'unstuck' option in the pause menu to reset your position in the event you become glitched so it's not like if you think you're stuck you have to restart your save, there are other things you van try first.
The game is incredibly fun. I love driving around and that aspect reminded me of Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip. I loved exploring on foot too, saving up and buying upgrades, finding new ingredients etc. I found the game great and I did let the mixed reviews discourage me for a while but I would say the game is still worth giving a go. Also the devs are apparently super active in the game's discord so if you do need help you can look there.

It's hard to convey how much I adore this game.
Its open ended and guidance-free approach to the world, its fancy sound design, its gamification of otherwise mundane tasks, its charismatic characters and stories, it all lends itself to create one of the most uniquely fun and surprisingly immersive games I've had the pleasure to play.
If you can look past the volatile performance and are able to embrace the rather unique control scheme (it's brilliant once you get used to it, I swear!), Fruitbus can be both one of the coziest and most melancholic game to adventure in.
I want to keep pampering Coco. I'm really craving seconds...

I'm getting ready to finish the game soon, and I must say I'm excited and sad. This game was a hidden gem I wish I h had found sooner. It is so FUN! Very good cozy game! You get to customize your bus inside and out throughout the game. You gain more ingredients and dishes you can make, plus equipment as you progress. You go to three different islands and fill food request for big story progression missions, as well as smaller missions that might grant an item or some sort of reward. By the end of the game you can make several types of dishes with several different kitchen appliances and utensils. Don't want to give too much detail and spoil anything ;-P The overall story is cute! The game is so ADDICTING! It is steam deck compatible, and I have enjoyed playing it on both my Steam Deck and PC or Laptop. There is so much to do in this game on all three islands, and you are even able to travel back to other islands to finish quest or get supplies that island may have that the next doesn't. You do have to complete the main mission for each island before the next unlocks, but being able to go back is nice. I'm about to finish the game as I said, but because I can go back and I'm a bit of a completionist, I have went back to the first island and am currently finishing anything up that I need to do or collect from each island before I finish the game. This will be a bittersweet ending, as I have been loving this game and have been addicted, but I'm also ready to finish it and see the story conclude. Again, THIS GAME WAS A HIDDEN GEM AND IS HIGHLY UNDERRATED FOR SOMETHING THAT DESERVES MORE HYPE! DON'T THINK, JUST BUY IT! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

i was kinda expecting a nothing burger, but was pleasantly surprised. both gameplay and plot are simple, but engaging enough. you discover and collect ingredients to then drive around 3 maps, upgrading your truck (it aint a bus) and fulfilling various requests from a bunch of different characters, while getting snippets of information about your late grandma.
some bugs, but nothing major. should probably warn that controls are not rebindable and might take a minute to get used to.

This game was pretty fun and I enjoyed it. But I hope if they make a sequel they add a co-op function, A lot of this game is looking for fruits to make the food, which after a while gets VERY time draggy and boring after while. I will give my suggestions in this with hopes it will be heard.
Potential suggestions from an enjoyer of your game
- add a co-op function even if it's only two players! it will make the game more fun.
- with the co-op you can have the food tuck have an attached moped or bicycle. (so that the whenever there is only a certain fruit needed the second player can use that mini vehicle to gather the fruit while the main player tends costumers or also goes looking for fruits at a different part of the map).
- the maps don't need to be huge, ( sometimes keeping a decent size is better)
- it would be pretty fun to let the players make their own food truck jingle using music notes (imagine how viral it would go! people would probably make Megalovania or rick roll jingles)
- some fun traversal mechanics would be fun. (like a food tuck speed boost, players can have roller skates making it more fun to go down hill, OH and since we are looking for fruits some grow in high top areas maybe some fruits can only be gathered by climbing a rock wall!
- ANOTHER IDEA imagine a rival food truck (it doesn't need to be full a real thing because I know it would be a nightmare to code and add, but rather just mentions of them and characters you meet, and there can be contests where you do see the rivals food truck and its like a race! oooh that sounds so fun!!!
Anyway those are my thoughts I really enjoyed your game

The game and artstyle are very cute and cozy, the music is nice too. Making the food is really fun and in late game it is fun to come up with recipes, but the game has sadly a lot of problems still.
The story is nothing big to write home about, the Grandma comes off just as really mean to everyone, taking everyone’s things etc. to show them “though love” and stuff, hence why we probably have to fix everything.
The various islands also feel really empty apart form the few point of interests. Often just long drives from one point to another with nothing but road in between.
The physics are really wonky in this game too. Often fruits just explode out of the baskets in the truck, or when I load the game everything is strewn around in the truck when I took time to carefully put the food where it belongs.
The hitbox of the Fruitbus is also atrocious; you often get stuck on the smallest of rocks or other things which are not even near the road. The handling is not great at all, it drives like a 40 ton truck and the turn radius is abysmal.
Also, really annoying bugs that have been reported since the demo launched still exist and are still not being fixed. As example when you trigger a “food festival” cutscene, I had to restart the game often 4 to 5 times because I was either: stuck under the fruitbus, the NPCs just stood there and did nothing, I could not move at all and was frozen in place, a part of the cutscene played and the NPCs just froze in place, etc. And that happened not once, but every time I had on every isle a food festival cutscene. It was so stressful and annoying because I thought every time my save was bricked and all my hours invested in it where lost.
All in all it’s a nice cozy game and I enjoyed for the most part my time with it, but the many bugs it still has marred my enjoyment a lot sadly.
