Looks and feels really promising so far. I've spent hundreds of hours playing the Final Fantasy Tactics Games, especially FFT A2 and I still play them over and over to this day. That's why I am kinda desperately searching for similar games. I've tried lots of sRPG and Tactics games on Steam and other platforms, but most of them did not really catch me like FFT did.
The Prologue of Vanaris Tactics however played pretty well, even if it was quite short. I love the art style, the combat felt good, and the AI was fine as well. The World Map instantly reminded me of FFT Advanced. The Undo-Move function is a big plus for me as well.
But I haven't seen any specific class and skill system yet. Seems like that the characters just learn new skills by leveling up and don't belong to a class or anything.
That's not a bad thing, but might be a bit too simple for me, since the deep job and ability systems of the FFT Titles and similar games like Tactics Ogre are exactly what make these games so exciting for me.
That being said, the game looks great so far and I'm looking forward to trying out the full game.

this game is very basic and i would go neutral because being basic isn't bad for some people but after playing i will not be getting the game but i'm still upvoting this because it could still appeal to others. here you get 2 battles (main game is 15) with all 3 of your characters (an archer and 2 melee). you get abilities to use outside your main attack and status effects that work a bit differently than most game as they are applied only after filling a bar from hits (2-3) from a weapon with said effect. reading the main games forums there are no job systems though i think the game it to short for it anyway. one thing that bothers me is having to use the arrow keys to move around the map.
the story is about a rebellion after an invading force took measures to delete the protagonist religion and anyone who still followed it. the game is based off tactics ogre/final fantasy tactics (same devs) and the ogre battle games have always been very political. this story even reminds me of the grapples from ogre battle 64.
if i do end up with this game i'll do a better review over there. for indie devs basic is ok if its done well and i can't judge that on only 2 levels.

First of all my playtime is very short because I played the near identical demo at an earlier time, but I'm leaving my review here. Vanaris Tactics opens with a small group of refugees trying to escape. The tactics combat is really cool, though the game does not go easy on you. You decide what equipment and items you should buy to help your group survive every encounter.

First impression on title screen: very Toge XD
Gameplay wise, it captures the soul of FFT really well. Can't wait to play the full game

The gameplay, art style, controls, and UI are really good.
The story is not bad, I'll have to see what happens in the full game.
The writing is not good. Some odd sentences and non-native constructions (at least in the English version). That doesn't take away from the game too much, though.
Overall, I definitely recommend playing this prologue. It scratches the tactical RPG itch well, and I'm looking forward to the full game.

Properly executed pixel art turn based tactics rpg with an interesting story.

Drawbacks:
- too long transitions effects
- no option to skip the transitions
- fast mode of combat is way too slow
Pro:
everything we can expect of a TRPG published after FFT.
Vanaris Tactivs is a legit TRPG: it's solid and pretty looking enough, the story is decent writing with nice narative tension.
But the best TRPG games with endless replay value that i've played on steam are Symphony of War, Wintermoor Tactics Club, Fell Seal, C.A.R.D.S RPG, or Lost in Fantasyland.
There are already many other 'fine, but lesser' TRPGs on Steam.
And, while playing this game, Vanaris Tactics Prologue, I haven't experienced anything that's original or more pleasant than my references games, some of which have almost endless erplay value, I have no reason to want to buy the full version.
But it will depend of whether they will impove the negative point I mentioned, or add original gameplay elements. Maybe character recruitment in combat, or, crafting, or relationship interaction in the gameplay, etc.
Vanaris would have ot add something very original to convince me to buy its full version and let us know in the description or in the videos.
Something that I haven't found in the Prologue.
So, I recommand This demo is ok because it's free. But I don't know how much the full game will cost, or if it's going to the be same thing or something more nteresting.
