The Mutineer
ALL ABOARD!
Grab your shipmates and go head to head in this asymmetrical PvP game that’s as fun to watch as it is to play. Deceit and destruction come together in a shared screen experience, where you have to keep your enemy guessing your next move.
Take control of The Mutineer and sabotage the engines of the ship while seamlessly blending in with AI controlled engineers. Act natural and move with the crowds while disabling engines along the way. Have a set number of engines disabled to win!
Take control of The Overseer and watch your screen carefully for The Mutineer, maintain your engines and give orders to fix and repair any engines that have been sabotaged. Kick suspicious engineers off the ship and try to find The Mutineer, but be careful – you’ve got a limited number of guesses!
Game Features:
- Dynamic Gameplay: Multiple win conditions, maps, and custom rules means loads of replay-ability!
- Challenging Singleplayer: Our realistic AI means that singleplayer plays differently every time.
- Simple Controls: 3 buttons means that any player can learn to play, on keyboard or gamepad!

Just... Fantastic and extremely underrated.
This game may not seem like much when you first test it out, but as you continue playing you realise the depth and sheer strategy and mind games this game possesses and reflects on to the 2 of you playing.
And since you only need one other player, remote play is actually very smooth and easy to carry out, since you don't have to worry with the burden of trying to stream to multiple people at once. Also, the game isn't demanding for the stream at least from my experience, so the people you play with should have a really smooth experience for the most part.
Out of all the games which follow a similar formula of blending in within a crowd of bots (such as Thief Town or Unspottable), this game is by far the most intense and addictive. I have actively searched for games which do a better job than this one, but I have not found anything yet.
Now you may be wondering, what makes this game so much better than the others?
Well, first of all, in other "hiding in plain sight" games (such as Thief Town and Unspottable, as I mentioned before), every player is hidden and is actively trying to battle each other. While this may sound like a positive, this actually removes a lot of the tense moments of having someone walk just by you as you blend in, since everyone is hidden just the same. Also, since every player is preoccupied with trying to discover the others, there isn't enough of a focus on actually trying to blend in and stealthily hide your every move.
"The Mutineer", on the other hand, pits exactly 2 players in an extremely close quarters scenario, with one Overseer attempting to find one Mutineer blending into the crowd. Due to this, both players will be wary of every move and the Mutineer will have to be extremely cautious with their actions, since the Overseer is placing all their attention on them. This also results in those phenomenal tense moments when the Overseer just passes over the Mutineer.
Here is a basic rundown of how the game is played.
The mutineer has to cause a total of 4 engines to be sabotaged at a single point in time, whereas the overseer has to stop the mutineer by providing a gigantic uppercut to the face. However, the overseer only has a small specific number of chances to punch and stop the mutineer (with the default number being 3, but this can be adjusted).
The mutineer's sabotage animation is identical to the regular engineers' "repair" (which is only an animation and does not impact the actual state of the engines) animations, meaning that they can use this to frame innocent engineers by sabotaging at the same time while they "repair" an engine. Since the overseer is only notified that a sabotage has happened, and not which engine was sabotaged, they can be tricked if the mutineer succeeds in doing this.
On the other hand, the overseer, along with having 3 "punches" to stop the mutineer, also has a specific small amount of "commands" which they can use to ask an engineer to actually fix a sabotaged engine. However, engineers don't always agree to actually fix it and can simply walk off. On top of that, there is a small chance that the overseer asked the mutineer, which results in an incredibly tense moment for the mutineer, giving them the option of either fixing the engine to play the role of an innocent engineer, or completely ignore the request despite accepting the command, which wastes one of the overseer's "commands" but risks them being caught.
Both players can also initiate a fire alarm to stop all actions, such as a sabotage, or the fixing of an engine, which can be used for more complex tactics which you can figure out yourself :).
As you can see, this game has alot more depth than what first meets the eye, and is *extremely* underrated.
Right now the only possible improvement I would like to see is the increase in maps, since there is currently 3, which is decent but more would certainly not hurt.
However, I have contacted the developers and large updates like this sadly won't be possible if the game doesn't get the attention it deserves, so I do really recommend you to get this game and share it with your friends.
Overall, while the really "indie" look of the game had initially made me sceptical, once you play a few rounds and actually give the game a chance you discover how fun and unique the actual game is.
Hence I completely recommend this game for the full retail price.

This Mutineer is challenging and fun to play! Both the Captain and the Mutineer give you a sense of gratification when you win and the art style is really great. It's especially great when you have people to play against!

10/10! Very polished game, I've showed this to multiple friends of mine in various group settings and everyone was entertained trying to find which one the Mutineer was. We took turns playing and led to a fun night!

Before I played The Mutineer, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good

Really simple, easy to learn and fun game to play with a friend with a "find the mole" type of gameplay and unique and really cool artstyle and sound effects witch add to the atmosphere of the game.
Would only ask to add a little more difficulty options like removing the initial sound that the mutineer makes when he sabotages an engine to make the game more challenging to experienced players.
Overall an ideal game if you are looking to challenge a friend to a couple of matches.
