This game left me completely burned out on an emotional level but kinda... in a good way? The Wreck features the most emotionally nuanced writing I've ever seen in a video game. I teared up multiple times while playing. It tackles all the themes and, somehow, manages to do them justice. It's a lot. It's devastating and beautiful and, in the end, hopeful. Give this game a chance if you feel up to the subject matter! And remember to take care of yourself while playing, take breaks when you need them <3

Great visual novel. You know how Japan made the original great visual novels? Now, the visual novel genre has crossed over into other cultures and languages and this one is a hybrid English-French novel, and it's solid.
This novel focuses on a hard life-and-death situation of a family member. I've been there, done that, in real life. This does it justice.

This was interesting and enjoyable, a fresh spin on a "visual novel" type of story. I think I'd rate it about 6.5/10 as I'm sure it won't appeal to everyone.
Though the game plays like a standard visual novel, the visual presentation of it is unique in what I've experienced so far, and that's what makes it really stand out. The best part of it is the 3D "constant motion" aspects of each scene. In particular, the various "flashback" scenes that you play through over and over. They look great and going through the scene from different angles feels fairly immersive. And each time you find new word clues to pull out more history and understanding of the situation that the main character takes back with her when the flashback is over. This provides the means for character growth as the story progresses.
You do have some "choices" in the dialogue options throughout the game, and those choices have some minor impact on the next few lines of dialogue. But overall the choices you make have practically no impact on the outcome of the story. A few specific choices give you specific achievements, and then at the very end you can pick between 3 different takes on the ending. But with the ending being relatively short, I wouldn't say that choice makes much more impact than any of the others.
The primary themes are strained relationships, grief, and motherhood. I found the motherhood and grief-related parts most poignant, but the commentary on strained relationships and making good decisions within them was also fairly well done. If these topics don't interest you at all, then I'm pretty confident you won't enjoy the visual novel at all. Every line is voice acted and the main character in particular does a great job with them. The side characters are all very competent with their voice acting, just not quite as convincing as the main character.
Overall, if you generally like visual novels, and deep relationally-focused stories don't turn you off, plus you like new takes on graphical presentations in this genre, then I think you'd likely also enjoy this. It's not life-changing, but it was worth the time spent.

I'm a huge fan of reality-inspired games. If you want a story told/played in a semi-relaxing way (relaxing visuals, but mystery is there!) then you might appreciate this game.

I recommend on condition that it's not a game really, and you are fully aware of that. It's an interactive visual novel. Visually it's excellent. Characters and emotions are very realistic, feels a lot like a personal story, something that really happened to someone and then was made into this experience. I was little bit disappointed though because I hoped for more game. You know, actually making choices and doing things besides remembering the past. They do say it's a visual novel, so that mistake is on me. They also have choices matter tag, and that one is on them because there's only one choice that actually matters in this game. Not enough to send it into no recommend zone, but had to mention.

Nice mature story, gameplay integration is a bit weak though

A 3D visual novel with great aesthetics and cinematography. My only complaint is the "rewind cutscene," which gets old by the end. Nevertheless, the story is good, and the full voice-over definitely enhances how it is delivered.
