I bought this when it came out in 2017.
Got as far as the first Hornet fight, who kicked my a%$.
Thought "I'm too old for this" and uninstalled it.
8 YEARS LATERRRRR....Silksong comes out, so I thought "I'll try that Hollow Knight again".
And everything just clicked. What an amazing game. I can't put it down.
Currently one Dreamer down, and getting the courage to face Hornet Sentinel in Kingdoms Edge !

Damn, where do I even start? Before starting Silksong, I decided to begin here... I thought it was just a little bug game. I ended up wondering if I still had a soul after the Pantheon of Hallownest, a 42-boss marathon that makes Dark Souls feel like a calm, relaxing stroll in the park. You fight everything and everyone, even your own will to keep going. But when you finally win, it’s insanely satisfying, and you end up with Stockholm syndrome, forming a positive relationship with the game that mentally m0lested you.
Conclusion: 10/10.

good game, but it has a ridiculous amout of bugs, one even tried to take over my dreams. Also makes me want to eat glass at some times.

I love this game, which should be evident by my 750 hours playing it. It's difficult, but with practice I'm able to develop strategies to beat the bosses. Learn when and how to dodge, when to make your attacks. Silksong is similar, but ramps up difficult by requiring fast reaction times, which I don't have, possibly because of my age. So, while Silksong has improvements over this original, I think this game is a masterpiece, while Silksong is reducing its target audience at a smaller percentage of gamers that excludes me.

After 18 hours of the game and beating like... 2 bosses I believe Team Cherry hates me personally.
Will I continue to suffer and try? Yes, I will.

Hollow Knight was the first time I truly felt like a gamer. I've beaten my fair share of games, but completing the Path of Pain, and doing a steel soul run (separately) filled me with a sense of accomplishment that made me feel proud of myself. Also, the mantis lords were the first combat that showed me how combat could be a dance, truly.
