Do you like Ace Combat? Do you like Gundam? if you answered yes to either or even BOTH of these then you'll probably like this game. Have fun, pilots.

For this price tag? Yeah, sure. I'd say it's worth it. Paying basically 1 dollar for a game is a pretty funny idea in-general. When it goes on sale, it goes on sale hardcore.
The game itself though ehhhh..
Gameplay is okay, but also very shallow, you're just spamming all your cooldowns. There is no customization at all for the campaign. Voice acting, at least the english, is unfortunately rather poor and all over the place. Another review mentioned different microphones - they are right, it is in fact painfully noticable. I attempted to switch to the japanese voiceover out of desperation, only to discover that, for some reason, all the Japanese VA's used noticeably worse quality microphones.. interesting.
Again, for 1 dollar? Great, sure. Can't complain, honestly, I got what I paid for. From a "Okay but lets be honest for a moment" perspective.. when I say indie I mean INDIE indie, and not in a good way. Still, I do see that a lot of passion was put into it, and I can respect that.
Edit: Played more, felt the need to update.
Lots of bizzare design choices in this title. I'm not sure who decided that I needed to suffer a lethal dose of cringe every single time anyone talks in the campaign, but that was a bad call. The control scheme overall is annoying to use. I think this game is sort of a "project wingman appreciation reminder" - I don't consider it fundamentally bad, but there's a lot that I don't view very favorably.

The game is far from flawless, but there are few things it does really well that I keep remembering it. There's just something about being able to lock on 30 missiles in rapid succession at multiple targets and shoot them out at once or blasting targets with particle cannon that gets the dopamine rush going. It's a bit short, lacks any mech customization, but the dogfights can be really fun. Maybe it's my lack of experience with dogfight games in general, but I really enjoyed it. It's also cheap and received lots of love from the devs to the point it even got a nice remaster for free after several years so it deserves a positive review from me despite probably being a bit closer to mixed than a masterpiece on a positive scale.
Positives
- Missile lock onto different targets with dozens of missiles feels satisfying, and just blowing stuff up in general
- Rapid air movement for dodging missiles (combined with flares) feels fluid for the most part
- AI is for the most part pretty decent, it doesn't clump up to get taken out by splash damage all at once and can fight you from different angles
- Cheap
Negatives
- Random quirks where specific weapons have issues hitting a target that doesn't move (mostly ground defense), or melee easily being able to miss an enemy that doesn't even try to dodge it
- AI units can sometimes get stuck behind an obstacle
- Lacks mech customization, but at least you get different mechs throughout the campaign
- Campaign is somewhat short, but given the price it isn't too bad

Indie games are improving in quality and charging fair price, and triple A games are getting shittier and more expansive everyday.
This is a gem for those of us who are into Japanese style mechs.
There is the indie scuff associates with this game, yes.
However, there are a lot more passion in this game than anything Bandai will ever pump out.
When was the last time Bandi Namco did 6 degree freedom for flight models?
You ever seen them add small episodes of mini games in between missions that doesn't involve the mech?
The fact is that triple A companies are too big to succeed and indie qualities will only improve as game engine takes away a lot of the heavy lifting from indie devs. Indie WILL be the future.
For he game itself, as I mentioned earlier, Indie scuff is there.
Controls could use a lot of improvements.
-if they add in roll left/right, they will make the 6 degree movement WAY more engaging.
-weapon controls simply allowing key mapping for direct usage of pylon 3-6 and main hand, off hand binds to left and right click will allow the highspeed fights to be even more intense.
Story wise, I think it has the typical Asian naive narrative going on.
Doesn't matter if it's big company that tries to be safe like Gundam, or small indie devs like Project Wingman, they have this very weird obsession that Mercenaries or third parties are the good guys. In real world practice, these are the most evil beings exist on our planet. They serve as a proxy military for governments around the globe to kill and commit war crimes for money. These beings have no morals nor do they care about anything beyond money. Another common theme I see is that, their stances are very weak when it comes to war. They want to explore the topic of war, but they are unwilling to settle with the fact that the more awesome your weapon is, the more people are going to get killed by it. No one is getting saved in war, people are getting killed in war. A bomb goes off, and the man once your best friend and brother in arms will turn into pink mist. There no room for guilt for war. If that's an issue for anyone, do not sign up or be part of any armed forces. The moment anyone pilots a killing machine, someone has to die.
Everything else, I have no complaint. It has a lot more passion and it radiates excitement when you sink your teeth into this game. Designs, vocabulary, style...they all pay homage to many pioneers came before them, both real world and fictional.
8/10 Very solid.

A solid Ace Combat x Armored Core fast paced mecha action game. It's short but an excellent game for the price. If they made a sequel I would play it.
The story had potential but it's told a bit sloppily and the voice acting is...well, it's not great.

This is such a anatstic game. I was so legitemately blown away by the frenetic, fast paced and adrenaline pumping action; and enevironments upon which you fight are just absolutely gorgeous and beautiful with just amazing set peices. The real star of the show is how all of this comes into play with music that just makes the combat and story feel epic and amazing. The story is pretty solid, even though Mirai, one of teh two protagonists, is kind of annyoying; but thats the only real downside. You can tell this is an indie project made by people who loved Mecha franchises like Armored Core and Zone of the Enders; and that love shows through in its immaculate and loving presentation. At the price point it's at, it's very reasonable and will blow your expectations away. We need more people playing this game because it's genuinely amazing and not too long either.

I am considering giving this game a thumbs down, with the game controls like you are on an ice rink with blades coated grease, and even after finishing the game, I still find myself wrestling with the controls just trying to get my battle frame pointing at the direction i want.
It's the story though, that really won me over. You can tell how this game very much wear it's inspiration on it's sleeve; this game is like a good Gundam fan-fiction. You get multiple perspective from both sides of the war, while some aren't fully fleshed, I still managed to get attached to the character I play as, and feel for the character motivation. Now were they well written characters, or story? That's debatable honestly, but I can feel the passion and the writer's love for the mecha war genre.
But the again, whether you want this game is really depends if you are willing to put up with the control. If you can look past that, then you will be treated with a really decently written Gundam fanfiction from someone who is passionate about that genre.
