Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!

Cuphead is one of those unique games where the difficulty is high, but so is the fun. Its cozy atmosphere, paired with exceptional jazz-inspired music design, creates an immersive and unforgettable experience. The hand-drawn visuals and fast-paced gameplay make it truly stand out. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, even though the controls felt a bit unusual to me (still easier to complete than Hollow Knight). The experience was especially rewarding thanks to the incredible atmosphere and the brilliantly designed bosses. This game is perfect for anyone seeking a challenging yet satisfying experience without frustration. Great piece of game art.

When i first made my steam account i accidentally bought this game instead of Bendy and the Ink Machine due to the similar old-cartoon art style, and that was one of the best mistakes i've ever made. 5 years later and I've finally 200% the base game and 100% the DLC, plus got all achievements. 10/10 would recommend to any serious gamer, for as rage inducing as this game can be, it is extremely rewarding and one of the most beautifully detailed and unique gaming experiences i've ever had.

Cuphead is an absolutely gorgeous treat to the eyes. The 1930's cartoon aesthetic really holds up, 8 years later.
The gameplay is BRUTAL. Absolutely B R U T A L. This game is like if Mario platforming was combined with Dark Souls-level difficulty and the Mickey Mouse cartoon artstyle. You run, gun, jump and parry. That's all you have. And you need to fight against bosses with an entire arsenal of attack patterns. So be prepared to rage quit a hell of a lot.
The music. It feels old-school. While it isn't much to write home about, it does give off the classic jazz 30's vibes. Also noting that Floral Fury (played against Cagey Carnation) is also in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! That's worth noting.
While I would recommend, I would also not at the same time. This is an absolutely wonderful game in 2017, alongside Sonic Mania, Breath of the Wild, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Persona 5's western release. But it's also extremely hard. So don't get this if you suck at games. But if you love hard-af video games, this is one hell of a time.
...I'll see myself out.

I bought this game for the 1930s cartoon art style and thinking it's just a cute platformer.
I stayed because my pride wouldn’t let me quit after dying 666 times to a carrot with anger management issues.
Lesson: Do not touch this game at all cost if you value your life and your controller.

you're supposed to have really good execution of concept, or really good execution of gameplay. having both is illegal.
