Worst. Game. Ever.
You end up playing it for way too long. Every class sucks you in so you feel obligated to try and beat the game with it. Hate it. DO NOT BUY. You'll end up regretting the hundreds of hours you're likely to spend playing this game.

Best $5 game I think I've bought. Music is great. Game play is great. They did a really good job of making each character change how you play your run.

Great bullet heaven game that fixes all my issues with Vampire Survivors. No maps that are 800x bigger than they need to be. Not a snooze fest for the first 5 minute as you wait for the enemies to actually spawn in significant numbers. You don't get so stupid powerful that you can step away and let the game play itself for the last third of a match. Actual good pacing. Great stuff.

I spent 3 dollars on this game and played over 500 hours of it. Addicting as hell.
One of the things that I think makes this game so good is how most items have upsides and downsides. So you have to be very careful about what you're buying.

Runs great on Steam Deck.
This is a very interesting take on the bullet heaven genre. It loses a LOT of the things that made Vampire Survivors a smash hit, but in return is very rich and complex with lots of systems to play with.
Here's what it loses: the power fantasy. Winning in this game is HARD, especially on Danger 5. When you are winning, it's not flashy. You shoot the projectiles faster, the damage numbers go up, and the horde dies faster. In other bullet heaven games, when you're winning you are WINNING. You have a giant laser beam blasting everything in sight while missiles fall in circles around you. It's just much more... low-key in this game.
By going all-in on strategy and number optimization, you're left with a more stressful experience where you don't always feel like a force of nature tearing through everything. It's less "yeah i want this upgrade because it'll make my attacks so much faster and cooler!" and more "i'm going to dump one stat to increase this other stat and then make up the difference when I level up", which is certainly a worthwhile decision for this game to make.
With all this being said, the complexity of this game ultimately gives it much more replay value than any of its peers. Once I had all the achievements in VS, I stopped playing. In this game, I am simply too bad to 100% the game and so I am motivated to keep playing. Because of this, I consider Brotato to be the best of the bullet heaven genre, though I still sometimes wish it was a *little* more flashy (and more balanced dear lord the SMG is crazy). Highly recommend!

Very fun and super replayable! I love building up and managing my stats and being able to test my build out afterwards. Addicting gameplay loop + cute brotatos. Back in 2007 I struck a man with my car and I didn't stop driving.

Creme de la creme of combat. No adventure, sometimes you don't even move, but do you ever slay. Others may have a nostalgia drenched aestetic and soundtrack to lure you in, but Brotato is all meat. Diverse builds, styles, you really get to know the dimensions of a box.
