Pretty solid shmup made by a dude from the community, gameplay is fun, challenging, with multiple modes and ship types. My only complaints are that the art is kinda bad, especially some of the stage backgrounds. Doesn't lose much points for me, though, since I had a ton of fun clearing and will definitely play more. Recommended.

Don't let the occasionally rough visuals fool you, Assault Shell is a real hidden gem.
Stages are hectic and the bosses have some rather fun attacks to dodge, but the real star of the show here is the hyper system.
You have a subweapon that recharges over time (rather quickly, might I add) that cancels bullets into items that charge your hyper, which obviously boosts your power and score multiplier but also makes the game harder while it's active. You can even activate a more powerful version if you charge the meter again before the first hyper runs out for that extra bit of risk-reward.
This is pushed even further in the Void Arrange mode, which is easily the best part of the game if you ask me. It adds a *third* hyper level that really cranks up the difficulty, and also adds a rank system that gives more long-lasting consequences to spamming hypers.
Scoring mainly consists of timing hypers and cancelling bullets into items, while making sure to shoot things to prevent your multiplier from dropping. The later bosses can be milked for a while which I'm generally not a fan of, but timing subweapons and hypers for maximum score didn't get tiresome for me.
With 4 modes and 4 ships to pick from (plus two subweapons to pick from per ship), there's also quite a bit of content here. Oh and also the music slaps. Buy Assault Shell pls

Even though I've yet to 1CC the game, i can strongly recommend it for any fan of shooting games (shmups), because this is made by a developer who knows what makes one good.
Edit: 1 Credit Cleared it 3 times now. I like it even better than previously!

Fun little Indie shmup, Reminiscent to some extent of Dodonpachi SaiDaiOuJou and Crimzon Clover - in a good way! Worth a shot.

A fantastic bullet-hell shoot-em-up with a hyper system reminiscent of Crimzon Clover.
The game is a good challenge, there are a bunch of different ship types to choose and even an arrange mode for an alternate way to play.

Some of the best core designs you will find from this indie shmup: fun player mechanics, great variety of bullets, and fast modern gameplay. If this team could get the funding on the artistic end, then they could potentially create a masterpiece. Like others have said, Assault Shell plays similar to Crimzon Clover with it's energy/break system.
