Unmatched: Digital Edition
In Battle The Are No LimitsUnmatched: Digital Edition is an adaptation of a critically acclaimed board game where two (or more) opponents command characters from myth, history, or fiction in a battle for the ages! Have you ever wondered who would win – King Arthur (aided by Merlin) or sword-wielding Alice (from Wonderland)? How would Sindbad and his band of ne’er-do-wells fare against Medusa and the three Furies? The answers to those questions, and more, can be found with a quick game of Unmatched!
What is Unmatched?Unmatched: Digital Edition is a tactical game where two opponents command their Hero and their Sidekick(s) on a set battlefield. The rules are simple. The actions are within the contained decks of cards, and the replayability is immense!
- Each player has to perform two actions a turn.
- Actions are: move and draw a card, attack or play a power (called scheme).
- Attacking (and defending) and using schemes is done with cards.
- Some attacks and schemes can only be used by either your Hero or their sidekick.
- When your Heroine (or Hero) drops to 0 health you lose the game.
Every Hero (or Heroine) has their unique ability, movement characteristic, and total health points set. The sidekick(s) can either have their own health pool or be weak one-hit-KO chaff (and probably can be resummoned to the battlefield).
What makes Unmatched great?Unmatched is one of those easy-to-learn games with an incredible amount of depth. The tactical insight and knowledge of your (and your opponent’s) Hero will determine the outcome of every fight. The individual games will be quick – but they will all be different as well! The greatest strength of Unmatched is its tactical depth – your decisions will be crucial – and the randomness factor is minimized and can be controlled further with players’ skill.

It's honestly pretty fun but it is sad that it is the price of a physical unmatched set and that extra characters cost more.

The online is pretty slow, and sometimes you have to rejoin the lobby. So it takes much longer if you play online, but still a decent experience. The AI is good, and you can finish a game in 15 minutes.

Very fun digital analogue of the original board game, very quick to learn with loads of characters to try and plenty of room for mastery. I entirely play it solo and practice different heroes against the AI so when my friends come over to play the physical version I can change things up. The AI is as challenging as i need it to be and the UI is clean and easy to follow.
This review comes off the tail end of their first season pass, and considering the excessive amount of boxed expansions i own i would like to have a clearer timetable of when we can expect to see more heroes in the digital version, i'd love to be able to practice characters i haven't played like Sun Wukong or Houdini, or get better at heroes like Muldoon and the Raptors (even though getting licensed characters seems like a long-shot).
Overall I have fun using this game to try out new playstyles and improve how i play certain characters, but i wish the roster was expanded more.

This digital version is decent. Many of the other reviews are spot on, after spending 11 hrs playing in total. I do like it overall. It's good practice for the physical version. There are not many heroes to choose from even w/ a purchase of Season 1 as compared to the available heroes in the physical version of the game. I would hope over time this digital version offers more of those heroes. I'm sort of surprised to see very little amount of people in the lobby for online play. Again, overall I do enjoy and hope over time they improve and expand the heroes to choose.

A little buggy at times. Occasionally, a card I know I have will disappear from my hand and I have to go back to lobby and back into game to reset it. Other than that, fun for any fans of the Unmatched series when you can't find anyone to play the board game with you. Need to add more characters from more expansions come 2024 though.

An incredible game, I was very intrigued with this game (and Im still), the rules and the abilities of each character. Even the soundtrack of the game is awesome. Although I couldn't understand how to attack at first, then I realised that the rules are simple. TIP: read carefully the cards and the instructions (especially in the tutorial) how to perform different actions (Attack, defend, scheme and maneuver). You can also watch some strategy guides on youtube so you can learn better and become a better player. The only problems are that a)I have read from some users saying that Jekyll and Hyde is not a good character in this game, I was a curious because he is one of my favourite characters, and his abilities, strengths and weaknesses are very interesting. I think that you have to be very careful on how you change personalities when you play as Jekyll and Hyde due to the fact that when you play as Hyde if you maneuver then you can lose health. b) The prices are a bit pricey (No pun intended), I think it could be a good idea if there were some bundles (yeah I know that there is the season pass but I have a different suggestion) like Cobble and fog bundle (like in the physical game in which you can get 4 characters, Sherlock Holmes, Jekyll and Hyde, Invisible man and Dracula and 2 maps, Soho and Baskerville manor),Robin hood and Bigfoot bundle (the 2 characters which I just mentioned and two maps, Yukon and Sherwood forest) and perhaps a skin bundle or 2 skin bundles (80's skin bundle and contrast skin bundle or just a skin bundle with the 4 of them).
Now If you love board games, strategy games and If you love iconic characters such as Sherlock Holmes then I recommend this game. But you have to take into consideration the price of the game and the dlc.
P.S. Better wait for a discount if you want to buy the game (and the dlc) like I did.
Also whoever says that Sherlock Holmes is OP I firmly believe that it is partialy true because although you can cancel the effects of the opponent's cards, when you are trying to guess the value of the opponent's cards you have to be very good at GUESSING. And yes I think that luck -Im not saying that strategy isnt important- plays a significant role in the game.

Very good game based on a very good table-top game. Unfortunately not all expansions are included.
