People complaining that they "removed" expansions seem to be completely unaware that they are part of the base game now, and are found in the same place as they always were:
• Karp of Doom was Act 5, and is still Act 5.
• Depths of Hell was Act 6, and is still Act 6.
• Wrath of Mevis was Act 7, and is still Act 7.
Any Collectors Edition content (which is cosmetic) is STILL there, tied to your account... and is now exclusive to people who bought it before they rolled the expansions into the main game.
As for "never needing to log in", the log in is only for online play, and has ALWAYS been required for online play. You can still play offline as you have always been able to.
The game did go through a pretty major shift in game play mechanics...
It was previously a 'rogue lite' Diablo clone with almost platformer like mechanics -- You would collect up to 30 relics that provided various boosts and abilities, typically obtained from chests at the end of a jumping puzzle/challenge. When you died, even in "softcore", you lost all of your relics and needed to start over again.
Now the game is a more traditional Diablo-clone but with the jump mechanics retained. You no longer lose your relics on death, but are limited to 4 (which you can level up by collecting copies).
It would have been nice if they kept the original game as a separate mode offline, but the devs are a small studio and honestly the game has enough interface bugs/issues as-is.

The monetisation in this game is terrible, most classes are locked until purchased, but decent content and a bunch of character choices for the base price of game. Most of the negative comments are due to this game having been changed from what it used to be into essentially a blatant copy of Diablo 2. Many items, skills, locations, enemies, systems, etc. are identical (often even with same or similar names). The positive reviews all seem to come either from people who didn't care about this change (they liked D2) or started playing after it. Essentially if you like D2 you will also enjoy this game - buy accordingly. My only real complaint has been not enough people seem to be playing this game, hence items on the trading post are often too few and overpriced since players can't be sure what they're actually worth without price competition / comparison from other players listing the same items. Also, info on wikis seems often non-existent or not updated. I saw someone else link a google doc spreadsheet manual from the devs which has been invaluable:
Overall, I think this game really deserves a higher review rating, as it is a solid, fun game (albeit a pretty blatant copy of D2).

Honestly, the game has been hit really hard by the reviews for the revamp.
As a new player I can only judge the content as it is, so if you're reading for that - this is one of them.
The game has a lot of classes and variety, a ton of items, a loot filter and a very unique gameplay loop (very similar to Vampire Survivors in a way).
If you like aRPGs, this game is one for when you're playing in the off-season of your main aRPG - absolutely no question about it. And given how well it runs and how few bullshit deaths there are in the game, this is also quite nice on Hardcore or SSF (you actually get drop increases in SSF).
Highly, highly recommended for the absurdly low price. Less than a dollar on sale, about 15 euros total if you want all the classes and DLC.

5 days ago I had 2 hours in this game and played it many years ago when it was a wave clearer.
Now I am almost 50 hours in and fully hooked. Very fun arpg with a lot of systems that work well together to create extra challenges and upgrade your character more and more to face them proper.
All the dlc seems a bit shocking at first but it's a lot of skins, extra classes on top of all the free ones already in, an additional act and stash+inventory tabs. Nothing too outragous and seems to be frequent on sale.
Also can be played offline just fine but has online if wanted.

This game is way underrated. I can see the micro transaction hate though. It follows the PoE model where you buy stash tabs and cosmetics so it isnt P2W. In addition the character unlocks are more so DLC based transactions. They could bundle them by type and just make it more attractive.
For the game itself, it plays like d2 LOD. Synergy style skill tree and you generally fully level up around late Nightmare mode/ Early hell. Lots of end game progression. With a more player base it could be great with future seasons. if you like D2 or project D2 or PoE. Its worth a shot. Each class is hyper focused with 2 trees. lots of fun.

Its a fun game, but man I wish the "complete edition" was actually a complete edition. there still paid stuff in-game that I don't have. lots of micro transactions for skins, and another class that doesn't come with complete edition. As well as a subscription you have to pay monthly for, for other stuff like a house in-game. I would have left a negative review, but the game is still pretty solid despite the garbage money grab tactics.
