ENG: Pep-Pel is a platformer with a lot of personality and variety, each world/level presents different challenges, mechanics that differ from the previous ones. Gameplay is fast and the curved surfaces give that "Sonic" feel, while the high difficulty and consecutive deaths with quick respawns remind what it was experienced in Celeste.
Finally on the technical side there are some rough edges like the spike/surface collisions that kill you, but not so much as to tarnish the gameplay experience.
I recommend it, also it has a free demo if you are not convinced.

ATTENTION: I can confirm this game works perfectly on Steam Deck, so you can finally have Pep-Pel right in the palms of your hands.
I love to watch this little goblin wizard zooming and zipping around! I especially like the underwater mansion level, the transition between the controls is super tight and she swims so fast.
Also this game has a lot of costumes which is really my only measure of quality for any game I ever play.

I love this game, it's a very addicting and fun to play platformer. For anyone considering picking it up, know that it is very difficult. The later levels demand a very high level of control over your character to do very precise maneuvers (hallmark of a good platformer), and the controls and physics of the game do take a bit of time to get used to. Pep-Pel suffers some of the same problems a game like Sonic the Hedgehog where sometimes directing the character can be confusing when wall running or moving very quickly. That said, while your move set is modest, you'll find a lot of depth in it as you play and progress through the harder stages.
I do have some gripes with the game however, mostly relating to the level design. In most levels, the game rewards you pretty heavily for understanding the mechanics and knowing the layout. You can really build a lot of speed and fly through levels and it feels great every time. However, there are times where the pacing will grind down to a halt where you are forced to proceed with a specific mechanic or you are just forced to wait in general. This is a common pacing issue I have with platformers, however with Pep-Pel, the game controls much better at higher speeds. At lower speeds movement can be very challenging and even confusing sometimes as you fight against your own momentum. This is magnified in the mechanical level that features puzzle like mechanics that you have to work through more slowly. That said, the lows are worth putting up with because the highs are so high.
Pep-Pel actually has an impressive amount of content for the price point in my opinion. Many skins, 8 very long levels with Celeste style B-Side variants, and collectibles in all levels. With the difficulty of the game I think you could definitely squeeze 40+ hours to complete it 100%, which I'm excited to do. Very impressive for a solo-dev release! I hope we will get to see more Pep-Pel in the future, whether it be DLC or a fully featured sequel!

It's true! Pep-Pel really IS Swell!
I've been following the development for a good while, and it's really cool to see how far it's come.
The game itself is really enjoyable, I like dashing and jumping and quickly comboing into another dash to gain some wicked speed.
Considering this whole game was made by one person is also just amazing, with the exception of some cool voice acting and very catchy music.
Other than that, every art asset and every animation, all the coding, done by one person, and she's done an amazing job.
I'm excited to play more, and speed run some of the levels to get some top times!

Tons of fun. Great movement. The game suggests to play with a controller but keyboard works great. 10/10 Laptop game.

Difficult precision platformer with few stages but each with a unique style and features. Plus horrendous controls.
The plot revolves around a magician who became a little greedy in her pursuit of relics. When one of the chests is opened, a dark stuff begins to emerge, sucking the magician inside and transforming her into a small goblin. In a desperate attempt, she casts a spell that opens portals to realms where she can find a way to return to normal.
The tiny goblin has the ability to double jump, dash through the air, and climb any flat surface. There are no restrictions since she never gets tired. Although dash can only be utilized once each jump, it can be recharged by smashing something or clinging to a wall. The gameplay is fast, which usually means you'll die constantly. Part of it is due to floaty controls that don't always let you go where you want. Or you might just call them broken. For a precision platformer, controls are a mess.
Running and maintaining momentum are important aspects of the game. The goblin has the ability to sprint so quickly that it can run up walls and even on ceilings. The only requirement is that the surface has to be curved. You have to start building up speed on the ground and cannot run anywhere.
Worlds are filled with threats and enemies that prevent you from getting to the goal too fast. Most enemies can be eliminated with a simple dash, but others require special potions that can be flung at any time. These potions can also be used to destroy metal obstructions. Because you die with a single contact, respawning at the nearest checkpoint is quick. These are invisible, so you don't know where the game saves, but they're generally fair.
Each world contains collectibles. Aside from coins, which are generally located on the main path and not that important, gems demand more effort because you must first grab them and then reach a safe flat area to make them disappear. A completed stage unlocks an ever harder version.
You don't have to restart the entire stage if you miss a gem, which is an amazing feature. You can jump to any checkpoint and search for a symbol that shows you which ones you missed. There's also a speedrunning trophy for finishing the game as quickly as possible and without dying. Collectibles unlock skins, which can be ignored if you aren't interested.
If you find the game or some sections too challenging, you can enable invincibility or unlimited dash. Because you can still acquire achievements, the sensation of accomplishment can be a little weak.
