About the Game
Experience what it means when you combine classics like Unreal Tournament and Descent and spice them up with fresh ideas from creative game developers and a dedicated community. Give it a chance:
… and decide if you want to support this game!
DRONE, in its core, is a multiplayer arena shooter. The gameplay is centered around fast paced aerial combat in spectacular scifi arenas. But wait, there is more: Create and manage complex remote controlled battle vehicles that fit your playstyle. Anything from tiny drones that fit through the smallest gaps for stealthy hit and run strategies to tanky behemoths with devastating firepower are possible. What you want to create and how you want to play is up to you! During early access the possibilities will increase frequently, for example ground based vehicles are on our roadmap.
There is also a very powerful arena editor alpha build available to play around with. When all core features of the game are ready the arena editor will be integrated directly into the game, opening up a whole universe of user created content, from the community, for the community.
DRONE is currently in a successful ongoing on-site crowdfunding campaign. We promise to complete the game and we have proven that we have what it takes to do so.
By purchasing the game in early access, you are supporting the development of DRONE and getting the “Traveler” crowdfunding tier unlocked for you. Among other perks, this tier grants you full access to all features as they are developed and, of course, you will have the final game once it’s done.
Not our conquest of space. Not our level of civilization. Not art or philosophy. Not even our scientific progress as such… when the first contact fleet of the Interstellar Committee of Advancement & Integration (ICAI) darkened the skies above the UN headquarters in New York 2137, the motivation for their intervention was clear cut: we were deemed a beast with tools and habits too dangerous to be left alone.
And to a subset of civilizations in the galaxy that meant: READY FOR THE GAME.
Warfare out there had become a regulated affair long ago. A ritual. A kind of sport. A source of entertainment backed by a vast and complex industry. Disputes over resources and territory, even the appropriation of some technology were no longer the subject of messy and uncontrollably destructive conflict. Such commodities would often become the formal prizes of tournaments, fought on a variety of natural and artificial stages all over the galaxy by teams representing companies, nations, a planet, an entire species… or just themselves.

Ah DRONE the Game, I have an entire backstory with this game, from loving it, to hating it, to liking it again. This is one long review, so Buckle up, grab a snack, and be prepared for some History!
2017 - At the time I was playing Robocraft an awful lot, it was and had been my Go-to game for a couple of years, I enjoyed it so much; the editor was simple, ever growing with new items, updates and patch notes, the game-play was fun, the community in it's best state. All was well and good. One day this video appeared on my for you page, "D.R.O.N.E announcement trailer" it seemed to be getting attention rapidly, with the reviews ever increasing each week. I was Fascinated. "A new, very promising game? Pleasing graphics? Drones? Racing? Some kind of > Editor < ?" This is what myself and other users were all thinking at the time. I was hooked, eager to see more from this legendary Trailer. So much effort had been put into the announcement. I needed to look into it!
I went on a searching spree for what seemed like a month, trying to find any extra teasers, the release date, websites, images, game-play, and more. I wanted to immediately say goodbye to Robocraft, and say hello to DRONE! Skip a few years, several Teasers had been released, a bigger audience formed, and the hype was getting real! People were talking about this, users in Robocraft were discussing DRONE online. It was the best time to be alive, I was enjoying life so much more at that point. The release was close, I knew it! It was closer than I thought initially, that's what lead me to missing the early access announcement, and the early access for the game.
So we skip a year, the updates for the game had flooded in, people were playing the game! But at what cost!? "£19.99?!??!?! Absurd! Oh but I really want it..." I said to myself. And so with some spare Christmas money in my possession, I bought the game. Was it worth it? At the time, yes. I played, and played, and died an awful lot since I was not great at FPS shooter, the movement was insane, I felt like I was flying a real drone. Of course, (idk how old I was lol) -35 year old me didn't know what flying a real FPV drone was like, but this is a Futuristic, Realistic, High graphics, Fantasy, Sci-Fi game, Physics is out the window!
I was so inspired by the game, I actually wanted to become a games developer! Even to this day, I have set my intention to do exactly that! Of course I'm in my early stages of Game's Development, it will take some years of experience to become a master. That has a much MUCH more detailed backstory, and it's very personal to me as well. I have plans to make a video showing off that backstory, so stay, tuned? Idk... That won't be for years though. Back to DRONE the game!
Skip another year, DRONE was making slower, and slower progress, updates became a rarity, and the game-play got repetitive. I went back to Robocraft just to realise a lot had changed! It was once again, my go-to game. I'm making this seem like I played DRONE non-stop when I initially bought it, but that's not the truth, for a while I played Crossout, ontop of OverWatch, mainly Terraria and a lil' bit of TModLoader. Ik! Back to DRONE again!
During 2020, I stopped playing DRONE the game, I loved the editor, the map creator, the PVP, but it was complex, a little overwhelming for my young brain, and most of all it was repetitive. I still hadn't lost hope with the game, "Things could change, they'll update it again, and it'll become popular once more!". Little did I know. I never EVER lost hope, i just kept playing Ranked in Rocket League, and just getting on with life, touching grass. 2021 came, and that hope that I kept a hold of began fading rapidly, my memories of DRONE became foggy, blurred, and lost. By 2022, I had nearly forgotten it's very existence. At this point Team Fortress 2 was attempting to grab my attention, Portal 2 oddly enough came running back to me, and I had lost interest in Robocraft, and OverWatch. Trailmakers was becoming my next big game during the early stages of the year.
2 0 2 3 - A different year, the year where things would change me forever, I had finished school, passed my subjects, and had the longest Summer Holiday of my life, 2 and a half months off! I had time to reflect on my past, and think about the future. Trailmakers was my #1 game. It still is! Of course, this is where I noticed DRONE in my Library, sat there, collecting dust. I thought I would install it again and see if it had received any updates. I would give this game one last try... The nostalgia brought me back to my memories, yes, it all came back. My passion for this game hadn't been lost. It had stood the small trial of time.
I still love DRONE the game. It's a tragic masterpiece, I don't see a massive flop of a game, I only see HUGE potential, awaiting to be used to expand the game. I find it so sad that the developers had technically abandoned the game, Earth 2 has done nothing to make DRONE any better. It was once my dream to become an Indie game developer, who would bring back DRONE the game, but now I see how much more complicated that would be. From a different perspective, I can't see much success.
The websites too, don't get me started on the Websites, they have had so much effort put into making them! The video, layout, style, they're so much better than any kind of Website that I've ever seen. Here's a link to what I'm talking about.

I love the design of DRONE, I love the editor so much! The Sci-Fi theme, the maps and Graphics, but I hate that it's been abandoned, left alone, left with so much potential put to waste. I can't believe I would see such a game left abandoned. If you're reading this, just know you are a great person for reading this. Thank you for devoting some of your time to read this. If you really want to play this game, get it when it's on sale. One last thing, everyone has different opinions of this game, don't feel pressured to agree with me. I am merely expressing my passion and love.
Now, let's have a moment of silence, for DRONE the game.

Anticipated this game from when it was announced to be developed back in 2012. Hyped to play it in 2020 since I got a good PC and money just to find out it was a flopped project.
