The Walking Dead: Season Two is a five-part (Episodes 2-5 can be purchased via in-app) game series that continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in a world gone mad. Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad – and sometimes worse – than the dead? As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.

Surviving in a zombie apocalypse is never easy. The story continues from season 1 and is recommended to anyone who likes season 1’s story. There are many times I wonder whether I made the right choice, but I resist the urge of loading and always move forward. Bad thing happens and it might be no one’s fault.
The experience on steam deck is almost perfect although not deck verified. In some areas, the display of shades has some issue but that has little impact on the overall experience.
Achievements are all story related and not possible to miss. One run takes about 10 hours. There is replay value for the game but probably I’ll do the second run in the 4 in 1 version.

The Walking Dead: Season Two is an episodic adventure video game developed and published by Telltale Games.
Story
Playing first Season is pretty much a requirement to play Season Two.
Season Two of The Walking Dead takes place shortly after events from first game.
You step into the shoes of Clementine, who after final occurrences in last episode in Season One, ventures together with Omid and Christa to shelter known as Wellington all the way up north, protecting from walkers due cold and layers of snow. Unfortunately Clem soon finds herself alone, having to utilize everything she was taught to survive, facing threat from undead and humans on her journey to reach safe haven.
Gameplay
Just like previous season, S2 is a point-and-click adventure game where you control your character through a series of episodes, gameplay playing second fiddles to narrative and story.
Most of the time is spend on selecting different dialogue options and in few moments, making important choices that affect the narrative, with consequences coming back later to bite you.
When not chatting Walking Dead offers you an option to explore small sized areas. You can find and interact with items, pick them up and keep for later use, make a quick observation about them or chat with characters.
Game has more than a few Quick Time Events to create intense action focused bits so be prepared for button mashing or quick selection of what to press with somewhat new "Hold a mouse button and drag your mouse into specific direction" to spice things up!
At the end of each episode you get a screen showing off your most important choices and how overall community picked to see if you are in majority or minority. Though I'm pretty sure with Telltale Games problems, servers are down so you have look at data from...some time period.
Playtime and replayability
It took me 8 hours to make my way through all episodes.

Pros and cons
Without any doubt my favourite and simply best part of S2 is Clementine and her development as season goes on. Following her journey as she finds herself once again between a rock and a hard place, with new group facing same issues she saw before, needing to adapt as constant threat from undead and other humans give them no rest is a real treat and strongest aspect of the game. Struggle, survival, sacrifice, tough decisions and betrayals, looming hope and despair on the horizon, constant tension, game has it all. One does have to roll eyes a bit when game is putting so much emphasis on a single child in groups with multiple adult characters, as Clementine will be send to do...literally everything, but that's just protagonist curse.
Solid characters surrounding our heroine are as important to creating good narrative experience. Majority of them is well written, with variety of personalities clashing in to offer intense moments as Clem will have to find herself on some side of the barricade sooner or later.
Unfortunately they still suffer from horror syndrome where not all actions make logical sense or just plain stupid deaths to push story forward exist, and there are characters who have rather weird, questionable motives which do bring down the quality of a game down a bit. Writing also has weaker moments in the middle of the season.
And classic "choices and consequences" is a bit...iffy. I understand what they went with in 1st Season but in S2 choices feel even less impactful than before.
There is not much to be said about gameplay. It works with no problems, additional new "mouse dragging" mechanic to spice things up somewhat is a good move though, again, Walking Dead is not a game one plays for its exciting gameplay. Unfortunately game doesn't offer same amount of hub areas like first title, and that is by far biggest negative when it comes to this chunk of Season Two.
Conclusion
While slightly dropping in quality in comparison to first season, fantastic atmosphere, great cast of characters with our protagonist on top and constant tension make Season Two worth playing.

A pretty good season! It didn't have the emotional highs as the first one did (obviously), but overall it felt like a proper continuation of Clem's story. Definitely worth playing through if you loved the first season!

the gap lee everett left in our hearts can’t ever be left fulfilled. however, following the story of clementine served as a great sequel for the original walking dead. the development of clementine from a eight year old scared girl to her adaptability towards the cruel world as a 11 year old while adopting lee’s teaching was quite a fascinating tapestry to unfold. 2013 and moving onwards is where telltale started leaning more towards quick time events and season two is a testament towards it. similarly to the wolf among us and batman’s telltale series, walking dead season two wasn’t short of quick time events to orchestrate action oriented sequences.
additionally, season two’s an all around shorter game with shorter episodes. the difference between the original and season two isn’t that of day and night however the difference is evident. a shorter game, shorter episodes by no means decrease the quality of the game as long as it’s executed correctly. season two by all means delivers on that aspect. episodes of season two take a different direction, they feel more binge worthy left with cliffhangers rather than the semi-solidified episodic endings of the first game. while both styles are great, this binge worthy episodic formula felt fresh for a change.
what made the original phenomenal was the characters that shaped the story, the exclusion of lee everett hits hard. while clementine’s a great character, newer characters were introduced which took a while to get attached to. along with clementine, kenny’s a key element in the tailoring of the game, the return of kenny felt great. kenny’s character development throughout the course of the adventure is also masterfully done.
a nitpick I personally carry for the game is the impact of the choices made throughout the story. when one of the highlights of the game is meant to be how the game’s tailored by how you play, my expectations are held high. in season two, the effectiveness and impact of my choices on the story felt less significant. I do agree that not all choices can be fuelled for an eventual outcome, I’ve had this nitpick for a lot of other telltale games but the issue felt most at concern here. here’s an example; during episode two, you get the choice of teaching sarah the usage of firearms or refuse teaching. sarah, a character around clementine’s age. neither option felt impactful at all. if you do end up teaching her, the game takes note of the fact that you taught sarah how to defend herself and leaves it at that. sarah never ends up using firearms to defend herself or provide herself useful in any situation. I personally saw this as an opportunity to explore a different outcomes in shootouts. there was definitely room here to explore. this doesn’t end at sarah, there were several other alleged tough choices which never ended up impacting the story where there was clearly a lot of potential to explore different possibilities. the only thing stopping me from mentioning these examples is avoiding spoilers.
in each episode, telltale has around 4-6 choices labelled as tough choices. circumstances where you’re only given 2 choices on a matter. the statistics of what player chose are then shown at the end of episodes. there’s a clear intention to sell this aspect of the game and yet there were several tough choices in this game where the choices had little to no impact on the story whatsoever. on certain occasions, the choices not impacting the story made sense to some extent to portray the cruelty of the harsh world of the walking dead. whether you choose to be nice towards someone or cruel towards someone and they end up stabbing you in the back regardless of either choice, this right here made sense to some extent as some people can’t afford to not be cruel in the cruel world of walking dead. while an impact-less choice made sense for one of the situations in season two, there were a lot of tough choices where not making them impactful felt lazy and areas of missed potential.
all in all, I strongly recommend the walking dead season two to players of the original and new players alike as it is very accessible world to immerse yourself into. it doesn’t surpass the original however it has the pedestal of a phenomenal sequel.

In terms of price, a perfect game lasts about 12 hours.
Before season 2, you should of course “watch” season 1.
