Her Majesty’s Ship
RISE THROUGH THE RANKS TO FLEET ADMIRAL
In this resource management game, you Start your career as a Captain on a 3rd rate Ship of the Line, then work your way up to become the next Admiral of the Fleet.
The primary objective of the game is to be promoted to Admiral of the Fleet, without having any mutiny nor losing the vessel.
The player will receive tasks from the admiralty which will need to be executed in order to get the desired promotion.
LOOK AFTER YOUR CREW AND PREVENT A MUTINY AT ALL COSTS
The Navy doesn’t take lightly to having a crew mutiny onboard one of their vessels, its a career limiting move.
Along the way, the player will be challenged with various tasks and tempted with targets of opportunity, whilst keeping the crew happy and not ending with a mutiny.
OUT-THINK AND OUTPLAY YOUR OPPONENTS
Multiplayer and Co-Op games will pit you against the AI and other human opponents.
The player can command a British, Spanish, French or Portuguese Man-o-War, ruling the waves and clearing it of the enemy and pirates.

This game does an excellent job of making you feel like the captain of a man-o-war. It is mostly a resource management game, with more than a passing similarity to euro-style board games. The fast pace generates regular tension as you make difficult decisions about balancing resources and choosing where to engage your ship. Moreover as a fan of age of sail books, I love how it captures the feeling of all the different parts of a ship working together as one machine. The designer has focused on this aspect alone, so don't expect much in the way of tactical combat, tacking etc. It's a bit of a pity, but it doesn't spoil the fun. Personally I think it's a refreshing take on age of sail games.
It is quite a short game and I doubt there is much replay value once you have beaten it (I haven't, but I'm getting closer). Nevertheless the experience is sufficiently unique and enjoyable that I recommend it.
Strangely, when I first played it I thought it was awful. I agreed with most of the negative reviews. Yes, during the first hour it feels like a click-fest with no real decisions. It's only once the systems start to make sense that the game reveals itself, and it is deeper than it first looks. Don't listen to the negative reviews by people with less than an hour's play.

I'm a slower paced player, sub sims and the like, I bought this gem knowing full well what it was, and am enjoying the shit out of it. It's not for everyone but if you want something to pass some time it's there for you.
The game is not bomber crew, its not FTL, and its not a super sim, I for one would love to have a bit bigger of a map and the ability to have it out with players or the AI to capture islands to win the game. Endless mode basicaly. So grab a case of Rip It's and check this one out. Form your own opinion and it may just suprise you.

The game is alright, it's not great but it's not as awful as I think some of the other reviews make it out to be. It has a lot to like, I really liked the challenge of the game specifically around trying to beat everybody else to a certain rank, since it can be challenging. I also really liked the look of the game, I thought it was really polished and the build was really stable unlike many other indie games I have played at launch.
Here's where I'm going to move into things I thought it could have done better.
Quite frankly, I didn't think the game had a ton of depth, it provided me a few hours of fun before I started to get a bit bored. It really didn't throw anything at me that was different from what I saw my first play through which was a bit disappointing. I think the squadron command system had some room for improvement, I liked that you could have additional ships to command in addition to your own and by officers you train as well. However, I thought the capabilities of those ships under the player's command could have been expanded past engaging in ship to ship combat into taking over forts and cities as well as potentially completing admiralty missions on the player's behalf might be interesting.
I don't know, this game really didn't blow me away in terms of gameplay, however, I have played games that are considerably worse and have even less depth. I agree with the mixed rating (atleast given the current state of the game). I would recommend it though, I think it has room for improvement but if you're looking for a few hours of fun or to play a light game against some friends this could be a good option.

ive only got about 3 hours in at the moment. Usually i write reviews after 8 hours of play but this game is simple enough to get a good review off in 3 hours worth of play.
First off the devs are great. if you have questions they answer pretty fast. they seem very involved with the game and its player base. thats a big plus for me.
The game its self is good if you enjoy this type of game. I find it a lot of fun and challenging. I havent wwon a single time as of yet on the easiest difficulty.
So if you like ship management games with a twist and a challenge. this game is great.
But its not with out some things i dont like. One being the multiplayer. i got this game in hopes of playing with other people but no one seems to be playing multiplayer currently. Theres never a lobby up and when i create one no one joins. Maybe if you have freinds to play with. But multiplayer was like half the reason i bought the game. maybe when the game gets a bigger player base the multiplayer will become more of a thing?
Theres a prt of the tutorial thats currently broken. where if you dont click on a flag instead of hitting the world map button the tutorial goes no where. so that might be a shame for new players.
I had a glitch where all the ships were paused in one place for like ten minutes. even the cargo ships would spawn in and just sit there. that was a bit annoying. Also even on the easiest mode single player seems a bit too difficult. especially for new players who are trying to just learn the mechanics.
One thing i kind of wish for is more freedom in choosing what i want to do on my ship rather than being forced to do x thing or y thing. I was hoping for a bit more strategy involved withing the ship its self. But i digress on that seeing as the rng is just a part of the way the devs wanted the game to be. still a lot of fun to play i just with i had more freedom in decision making with my crew.
But other than those minor gripes for the 12 bucks i spent on it its pretty good. I do enjoy it. just hope multiplayer picks up at some point. I say if you like this type of game then definitely pick it up. Its a good game. just needs a little work. I do enjoy it a lot despite the work needed that will probably come soon enough. fun little game :D I give it a solid 8 out of 10 in its current form.

I enjoy this game. I have put in a lot of time playing it and each time I learn something new. While I feel like there can be more to this simulator game, knowing the past games from this developer I'm very confident his DLC's will add to the game more and more. The ground work has been laid and this game is a lot of fun. Great job ESS on this game and I to more to come.
