Still Joking
Still Joking is:
- A game about characters with complex and unique relationship scales
- World of mirror reflections, where everything is like here, but a little bit different
- A mix of visual novel and adventure
We have:
- Multiple endings for main storylines and for each significant character
- 12-15 hours of playthrough
- Interactive elements ( interactive points, QTE, investigation mechanic )
- Fully voiced cat 🙂
The Story:
Reflections always do the exact same thing we do.
They are forced to repeat all the morning routines, all the self-affirmations and funny faces, and sometimes even the death of their prototype.
So what happens after?
How do they deal with it?
Play as Iris, quite a sarcastic reflection, to find out.
One could have been sweet and naive, but surely that’s not fun enough?
Iris also knows what it’s like to die in front of the mirror; she saw the killer’s face, and now she is not so sure how to move on.
And this is when the journey starts.
The journey to the future, the past, and all the decisions that must be made.
- Live your life.
Build your future; solve a murder; meet other reflections and learn of their own tricky stories.
- Have fun.
Step into the deadly void to hear its voice; accept a cheese roll from the Chosen One; get drunk; and start losing your mind.
- Don’t have fun.
Complete tasks for different factions; impress your curator; try to understand the nature of mysterious cracks; and piece together the story of this world – one thing at a time.
- Solve problems.
Break up arguments; expose the wrongdoers; offer support to those who truly need it.
- Create problems.
Become the reason for an argument, injury, or even… death.
Do it on purpose, do it unintentionally, or just don’t at all.
Be loved, be lonely and yet never alone. Joke, and then joke some more.
Welcome onboard!

This game gave me a lot of cozy evenings before I got to my first ending. And I am sure I will replay it again (for the brilliant achievements and plot twists).
You definitely should play it for its original story, funny yet kinda psychologic dialogues and sarcastic heroine.
I don't know how, but this game made me empathize with every character.

I recommend this game if you're the type who likes playing slice-of-life-esque games, following the day-to-day life of a protagonist and chatting up other characters. This game's vibes are a bit similar to point-and-click games.
I recommend this game if you want a story with a little romance on the side (there are 3 possible love interests, all with a "true" good ending and a couple mid endings).
I don't recommend this game if you want a murder mystery. The mystery is more of a side plot, with the main plot being the protagonist becoming comfortable in her own skin and finding what exactly is her true self. And also the story tells you the answers to the murder plot, so it's not really a mystery that you have to piece together.
Personally, I walked into this game expecting the murder mystery part, but since I'm also an avid consumer of character-centered works and romance I didn't mind what I got at all. I just wanted to place the disclaimer that the murder mystery aspects are not very pronounced so that anybody looking for that knows that this isn't the right game for them.
Anyway, a little more on why I liked it:
- I liked the protagonist
- I liked the massive amounts of art this game has
- I liked some of the side-characters, mostly the ones that the game let me hung out with the most
- I liked the extensive interactivity
- I liked how easy it was to fast-forward seen text or even backtrack to previous choices when you want to change something
- I liked most of the romances, especially Johnny's, who is the hardest "true good ending" to get because it starts as a hookup and you need to make it develop into something more, so I recommend checking out the devs' walkthrough for him. Roy was cool too, MC and him have chemistry basically from the get-go. I wasn't big on Tony's romance because I felt that Tony was infantilized too much
Things I didn't like:
- Since there are so many possible outcomes, achievement hunting is kind of a drag without a guide tbh. There are 30 achievements I can't even fathom how to get based on their description and I'm not even gonna bother
- Your actions can influence the ending of all your companions but it's hard to know what you can do and what you're missing because there is no achievements/album tied to the side characters' endings. For example, I think you can matchmake Tien (a side character) with two people, but the game is not clear on this because there is no achievement attached to it. She randomly got together with Johnny in one of my playthroughs for seemingly no reason even though they have no chemistry? I have no clue tbh. I'd set her up with Takeo personally if that's even a possibility and I knew how any of it works lol

Underrated gem honestly. Art-style is gorgeous. Very well-written characters and a great story. Your choices do actually matter.. a lot.. and the story branches off based on even the seemingly insignificant ones you made. My only complaint(ish) was the info dumps that got a bit confusing sometimes.
Now, send me off to the mirrored world, please and thank you.

Interesting setting, good story and beautiful art. I was kinda sad that I finished the game :(

The story is great
Wide cast of characters that exist and live separate from the main character
The ending is unsatisfying and empty? for such a great story
I will put a big thumb of the recommendation for the ride
But the ending completely smothered all experience from the story.
In addition the story is basically toothless, evading all triggering story parts. And overall this cowardice, that's just disappointing. The most intriguing and disappointing story
