Lost In Space – The Adventure Game

A nostalgic game based on a loved family show. A nice family friendly game that really does capture the feel of the sixties TV Series.. looking forward to other episodes and updates that hopefully will give us the opportunity to remove subtitles.. The developers are really quick to respond to questions too.

This game is incomplete. There is no "full" story, and the game ends after having solved a tedious series of puzzles without resolution to the prime objective of finding the family. Disappointing. Update: edit...I came to find this will be episodic, and other parts will be released as they are completed. Is it going to be 10 dollars every time an episode is ready for play?

Great to see Lost in space as a game, It brings back fond memories of watching the old black and white shows on TV, the characters are really good and true to the original look
The game is let down by repetitive puzzles on the last part that are just the same again and again but harder and harder, it sort of wears you down . Also would have liked more interaction with the robot as he is the star of the show in my view.
I have recommended the game to other players just for the fact the show is an old classic and was good to see it again but its not really a great gaming experience

I liked the use of voice lines from the show and I thought the animation was good. I liked the settings and exploring the interior of the Jupiter 2. Some of the puzzles felt more like trial and error and brute force than puzzling and I feel like without those it would be a much shorter experience. In the next chapter I would like to see more sequences like the opening of the game where it was combining items and finding uses. Overall, a very faithful Lost in Space experience and clearly a labor of love. I loved how the robot's arms moved when you ran him around. :)

This is a great game. Enjoying it so much. But can anyone tell me how you save. I have gone so far and do not want to exit and lose the lot.

When we last left our pioneer family, they were still in the Junkyard in Space, that was 1968. We're now so far into the future that the Jupiter 2 should have launched 29 years ago and at last we can tune in for the conclusion.
The graphics in this game are perfect for the subject matter, this is probably how viewers in the 60's felt when they saw the show in colour for the first time. The gameplay is just hard enough that it feels challenging, but it's not impossible, and most importantly, every puzzle can be solved with actual logic, no "guess what the programmer is thinking" that's all too common in this genre. Will Robinson is the main character, but as the game goes on, you get the ability to switch to Dr Smith and the General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Robot (that's B-9 to most) which is faithful to the mid Season 1 - Season 2 episodes which made up the majority of the show.
I believe the voicework uses a combination of AI / voice-clips and impersonators; Dr Robinson sounds exactly like Guy Williams, but there are small, odd audio artefacts in his lines, I can't tell if it's AI or if they just stitched some pre-existing lines together, Livia Soprano-style. The Robot sounds like a very good ♥♥♥♥ Tufeld impression, Will sounds like a real VA. Dr Smith sounds like his lines were assembled with all three techniques, but the overall effect is convincing. None of the other characters have lines (sorry, Don West fans). The sets are are fully re-created, including some peculiarities that only fans would notice like the Burroughs B205 terminals in the Jupiter-2, the fact that you can't walk 360 degrees around the spacecraft (because that would take you beyond the limits of the planet set) or a puzzle set in the massive storeroom that only appeared in one episode, recreated right down to the labels on the boxes. The music is directly from the show, as are the classic sound-effects, which makes it very immersive.
The only criticisms that can be made are the length (it's intended to be the first episode in a series, so like the actual show it ends on "To be continued NEXT WEEK!") the save feature is also not very transparent. You can't bring up the pause menu in the middle of a puzzle and even when you do, it has no save button. so it's quite confusing, especially if you're trapped in a gauntlet of one puzzle after another; on that note, the ending is a little repetitive, it's a long traversal through a series of gates, each one of which is protected by the same types of puzzle, in the same order, and when you reach the end of the path, our heroes then have to traverse a parallel, identical path.
Despite the criticisms, I'd recommend this to anybody who has any love for the show, even if you really prefer Trek and you're just a casual LiS fan (that's probably everybody at this point). Intriguing! Thrilling! Challenging! This is the adventure you'll share in "Lost in Space: The First Adventure"!

BEST GAME EVER!!!! Definitely my fave game! I’m so bad at puzzles but I love LIS so I love this game! This literally is like an extra long new episode that you can interact with! It’s hours of fun!

The story is creative and exciting, the characterizations are perfect, it is visually stunning and the classic aesthetic is recreated so perfectly and the whole time you can hear the beautiful LIS soundtrack! It’s so immersive too and I love all the little details- so yea, basically it’s a fan’s dream!

I’m sure even people who haven’t seen classic LIS would enjoy this game too, but for fans there are so many references and familiar things, it’s just phenomenal! The hype is true, it literally is like season 4 come to life! Will says in this, “It’s like someone has taken all this stuff from our past and magically brought it back again”, and I feel like that is just what this game is!

There are so many fantastic things here that I can’t even list them all, but the highlight of the game for me was probably exploring the Jupiter 2 inside and outside! Even in its messed up state it is so beautiful! Getting to interact with everything was the best- like putting the hydroponic garden tables right-side-up, climbing on the washing machine, and the laser drill, the force field generator, even that random prop that showed up so often was there! It really felt like being part of a LIS episode and was really surreal in a way. The upper deck was amazing too, I loved being able to see through the upper dome from inside, and going in the storage closet! The lower deck was kind of scary in the dark but it was so fun to see from Will’s POV and also to get to go inside all the cabins!

It was so fun to see the inner workings of the ship too- like how the airlock works, and I was so glad I was able to do those puzzles even though they were hard! The storage room was probably my favorite puzzle and also literally like the funniest part of the game for me, I was so proud to have made it through after like 15 minutes and was like “this isn’t so bad, it’s not as big as in Space Creature”, and then ahhhh there was ANOTHER storage room that was even bigger!!!

I literally laughed so hard that I couldn’t even be mad, puzzles usually give me a headache but what really gives me a headache (in a good way) is how all those big rooms fit in the Jupiter 2! I’m so glad this game continued the grand LIS tradition of impossibly large rooms in there, the second storage room was wild but at least it explains where they stored all that stuff!

Going down to the Power Core was amazing too, and finally seeing where the deutronium goes and like how that works! I only wish I could have stayed there longer, next time I play I won’t go near that computer so soon so I can stay there for a little longer. I know we come back there in a cutscene but that made me sad that some of the garden tables were knocked over again in that part but maybe i’m a little too detail obsessed. I hope in future episodes we will be able to spend more time in and around the Jupiter 2, but it was so nice to get to see all two… er, three decks in this game, and the outside too! Even with the intense story, that part of the game was so comfy and fun.

Exploring the place around the well was really fun too! I loved how everything was wooden and kind of old fashioned, that was a really nice place and I loved the mysterious alien symbols too and Will exploring everything! The storyline is exciting and it’s not too slow but not too rushed either. I know this episode mostly sets up the next four, but it captured that LIS feeling of mystery so nicely! I love how this season 4 episode has parts that call back to all three seasons… the mystery and exploration of early season one (and a lot of the music!), the Will, Dr. Smith and Robot adorableness of season 2, and the style and adventure of season 3! I am so impressed with how this game captures that LIS feeling and brings back so much while also taking the story forward into unexpected places!

One thing I love about that part of the game is the characters! Even though I really really want to see the rest of the family some more, the classic trio of Will, Dr. Smith and the Robot are so perfectly portrayed in this game! Will having a different voice did take getting used to but I adjusted to it and I just love him, it’s fun to see his perspective on everything and I love how he wanders around doing random things sometimes, like that’s so true to the show. I love how snarky he is sometimes too! His dialogue is so perfectly in-character and I really hope he can be reunited with his family soon. I also love the way his friendship with Dr. Smith was shown here! I like that now that Will is older, they have kind of come full circle and now Will is tricking Dr. Smith into helping him! That was one of my favorite parts too, and so funny!

Dr. Smith is so amazing in this too, he is just a joy and makes the game even more fun and of course he is so perfectly in character too. Getting to play as Dr. Smith briefly was really fun, I definitely felt less bad about making mistakes while playing as him!
And the Robot is amazing as always- I love how we can hear his electronic sounds again in this too! It was so fun to play as him too! I do hope that in future episodes, there will be options to play as the other characters too once we find them?

The reuse of dialogue from the series is so well done too, I have seen every episode a lot of times but I still couldn’t tell where most of the other dialogue was from, so it didn’t break immersion at all! I am so glad to hear those classic voices again. Some of the dialogue was reused in such creative ways too, like when John says “closer to two million, son”, about the cave, or my favorite, when Dr. Smith says “hello, dear child” to the gold hook! I also love how he said “what a ridiculous waste of time!” about the puzzles!

I was doing surprisingly well with the puzzles until the part with the gates, but I have to admit that most of those puzzles with the buttons and the tiles were way too hard for me, so I feel bad to say that I did skip a lot of them because I just couldn’t do it. This isn’t a problem with the game at all, I just have learning disabilities so I really can’t do most complicated puzzles sadly.

I’m sure for people who love puzzles, this game will be an amazing challenge too! One thing I do love and appreciate about this game is how accessible it is, it doesn’t force you to do any of the hard puzzles to continue. There are also a lot of really nice hints, I ended up using those a lot. That’s a really kind thing about the game that makes it fun instead of stressful, so I really appreciate that bc I would be heartbroken if there was finally a LIS game and I couldn’t play it bc of not being smart enough, so I really, really love that.

But Will is definitely really smart to be able to figure all of that out in the end! That ending was so exciting as a fan of LIS, bringing so much back!
I am very interested to see how the invaders from the fifth dimension return. I will be sad to see the keeper being a villain again but i’m sure it will make sense in the story. The story is so good!!! I loved the first episode and I am so incredibly hyped for the next 4 of season 4!!! The cliffhanger truly made me gasp and was so good, and so classic too!!!

Thank you for such an incredible game and for bringing LIS back!!! I am so excited to see the story continue even more. Well worth the wait!!! I recommend this game so much!!
