About the GameLake of Creatures is a fast-paced action fishing roguelike, where you’re on a quest to hunt down a mythical lake monster.
FEATURES:
- Randomly Generated Runs. In each run you hop into freshly generated lakes finding different gear, enemies and secrets every time!
- Combat Modifying Upgrade Synergies. The lakes are filled with lost relics that grant you all kinds of powers. Combining these powers might make you more powerful (or not). Take caution when combining their effects as your success depends on them!
- Unique Fishing. Swing your fishing rod to cast out the physics based fishing line. Once a fish is hooked prepare yourself, since big fishes ain’t going down without a fight.
- Catching and selling fish is mandatory, since buying more equipment will further improve your chances of success.
- Fast-Paced Juicy Combat With Roguelike Elements. Juicy twin-stick shooter with roguelike features such as gameplay modifying upgrades, procedurally generated levels and permadeath.

Probably the best indie roguelite since Brotato. Maybe takes a bit too much from Isaac but for many I don't think that's a bad thing.
Has real potential with polish (more unlocks, maybe a bit more ways to influence a run early, human-readable names for fish and more distinction between them, ie. "Nice, I caught a swordfish", not "Oh, I caught xxyxxoaksdjaaslkj, that's an uncommon apparently").
Worth it on sale for now if you have a couple of hours to get over the initial difficulty floor. I've only made it to the 3rd area so far, but spinning the fishing pole around and clicking to drop it has been probably the most satisfying part, it's not clunky like some other reviews had said.

Amazing roguelike, a game that I legitimately think should be up there with the likes of Isaac and Nuclear Throne. Personality, charm, amazing art, everything is just so high quality. The developer worked on this game for 3 YEARS, and IT SHOWS.

This is a nice "2D shooting roguelike on a boat", but a bad "fishing roguelike".
The fishing part really seems to just be there for marketing purposes, as this mechanic just randomly breaks you out of the main game and doesn't feel good at all. I think it's unnecessary and realized that avoiding this system entirely actually improves my runs, both in the results and the enjoyment I get from the game.
But the rest of the experience is a lot of fun, and it's quite (visually) polished, too. Would recommend for people who enjoyed The Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne.

After almost 2 hours of playtime, I really like a lot of the features this has, but at the time of this review (11/17/24) I feel like it needs some more polish and playtesting to be the best it could be.

One of the most enjoyable roguelikes I've played in awhile. This game has ton's of replayability that makes the purchase price basically non existent. If you haven't bought the game yet stop waiting around and grab it now.

The game is too hard! But I will conquer it like I conquered The Binding of Isaac.

It needs some polish before I would fully recommend, but it is alright for the price tag currently.
Buggy at times, the damage fog from enemies could use a solid border for clarity, a delay before room clear and being able to leave the room would be nice as you can lose items or money without being able to react to it if you happen to be just close enough, some guns feel like a downgrade from starter gun and you cant use starter gun while holding a picked up one for some reason, using the fishing pole to move keys, hearts, etc, is inconsistent due to how they bounce around as even a well placed click could have the item bounce to an unfavorable or unobtainable spot.
