About the Game
What has 60 amazing chiptune tracks, a loony story mode, 32 different chicken types to fight, and takes you on a tour of all your favorite retro games? It’s Old School Musical of course!
Tib and Rob are the heroes of a wacky adventure that will teach them where all of the bugs in our favorite games come from.
Have you ever played a rhythm game before? Well, this is like that, but much better! With each note, you are responsible for the success of our two heroes’ quest. Swing your sword and shoot with your spacecraft to the beat of chiptune tracks from Dubmood, Zabutom, Hello World, Yponeko, Toriena, mistermv and Le Plancton.
What people are saying:
- “This game is so retro, your TV will grow a cathode-ray tube” – Cathodic Magazine

Nice, cute game for those who enjoy rhythm games and chiptunes. The Game comes with various tributes to other games. So there might be some nostalgia included.
You shouldn't have a lot of problems to clear the story on hard mode when you're experienced with rhythm games.
You can get this game cheap on a discount. Definitely worth a try.

Do you like chiptunes? No? Then why are you looking at this game? Perhaps you're into chickens? sicko... Either way if you're looking for a twitch reaction trainer hidden as a rhythm game, this game is for you! Also it's a meme within a meme within a...hallucination? IDK it's weird, but in a good way.
I will continue playing as this game is odd, fun, and nostalgic while being entertaining. Long Live the Chicken Republic!

First grabbed this one on the Switch. Figured it was going to be Slopware (Shovelware) that was trying to cash in on the retro-gaming thing and High School Musical. My initial purchase was somewhat ironic
Well, joke is on me--the game is awesome--and a fairly decent take on the whole retro-gaming thing. Mostly combining a bunch of games together--and putting a bunch of stuff into a blender, like it is all the same thing. Which... uh... is kind of saying the quiet part outloud. Fun fact... I don't think the writers for this game were informed that some of the parts are suppose to be said quietly xD
It is a great "beginner" rhythm game. So if you are new to rhythm gaming, this is an awesome entry point. Though, it can get a bit more difficult at the later difficulties
Fun time. Though, not having as much fun time as that shirtless guy--who I'm all for cheering them on. As they are having fun--and I like seeing people enjoy themselves
I would talk further about the meta-narrative elements of the game... but that is pretty much just the narrative of the game. But like... in the most lazy half-butt way? Which somehow makes it more charming? Ron Burgendy?
I dunno--thoughts are unorganised, and I'm not certain I can get them organised o.o'

A fun Rhythm game that has a lot of fun parody's of games both old and new, with a surprisingly deeper story that at seems at first, though the random difficulty spike and background elements that can drain your health with little to no way of countering them alongside having to do the entire song over again mar the experience. still a recommendation from me to play this game. Also never want to see Mehdi dancing shirtless ever again

Ultimately I believe I left positively after completing the game. I do want to say up front that the story humor did not resonate with me so I started skipping cut scenes. I do think other do and will enjoy it but it landed flat for me.
The game play, music, art, and homages to other games were great. I enjoyed the game and seeing what new homage we would come across next music and art wise. You can see the thought that went into the game development.

*ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GAME*
Fell in love with the story, the levels, the Easter eggs and references to other games and overall the music was fantastic, just beat all of the chicken republic adventures and man it was a blast!
