Summer in Mara
‘Summer in Mara’ is a summer adventure with farming, crafting, and exploring mechanics set in a tropical archipelago. ‘Summer in Mara’ is a single-player experience in a calm, relaxing environment, with a handmade look and an exciting narrative. You will be Koa, a little adventurer girl who wants to explore the world that surrounds her. In ‘Summer in Mara’ you’ll have to take care of your own island, harvest your crops, create new tools and buildings, and sail with your boat to discover new islands and secrets. KEY FEATURES - An open ocean with over 20 islands to explore. - Customize your own island with buildings, crops and farm animals. - Over 25 characters to meet and befriend. - More than 300 quests to make Mara a better place. - Day and night cycle that have an effect on the world with climatic events. You’ll have your own island, but taking care of something like that is a lot of hard work. You’ll be able to plant trees to get wood, and craft new tools and buildings with different materials. Or you can create crop fields to grow all kinds of vegetables. You’ll also have a farm with chickens and pigs to take care of. But be careful, because this isn’t as easy as it looks! You’ll also be able to fish in a pond or in open sea,, cut trees with your hatchet, build things with your hammer, and use a hoe to help you harvest your island.

Other reviews say that this game is empty and has only fetch quests. And what can I say?
They are right.
Summer in Mara is no game for people who like to be busy.
I play it to relax. And relaxing it is for sure.
No way to die, crafting goes by the way and the rest of the game is enjoying the beautiful islands.
When I need to heal my soul, I stroll through this game and feel like I'm on Summer vacation in Mara.

I understand a while back this game was buggy and annoying. The devs seemed to resolve all of them since I wasn't able to find any at this point in time.
I LOVED IT. I will probably play again after a year or two. Got all the achievements, it was fun, relaxing and cute.
I feel sad I finished it but I will probably keep it installed for a while and just redecorate my island, harvest, feed my animals and sail Mara to relax from time to time. 10/10 would recommend. Just ignore any comment older that 2023. Worth every single penny.

Fully completed the achievements on this game. Would I recommend this game? Yes, but not to everyone. It's ok as an indie title and was clearly an early title for the dev. Wouldn't buy it unless it was on sale for more than 50% off.
All in All score: 6.5/10

Gameplay: 7/10
It has some fun elements but the game loop is a little... boring. Travel to get quests, travel home, get items, travel to complete quest. The only reason you do anything is to complete the quests. Many of the islands in the game are for merely collecting resources a couple times and then never needed again. There's very little reason to go to them after the initial visit and you collect the single unique resource and then bring it back to grow on your island. They're also pretty bland for the most part. maybe there's an npc or an empty house, but not a lot going on. The only reason i wouldn't lower this score is because building things on your island and seeing your island grow was mildly fun, despite the appearance of freedom to design your island being fairly limited (because that's a big part of farming/life sims). pretty much placement of trees and a few objects was the only way to customize your island. There were a few bugs here and there but nothing terrible.
Story and Characters: 4/10
The story is only mildly interesting, Moana has to go and find the 4 hearts of Tafiti so the spirit thing can somehow (this part wasn't very clear) stop the colonizers from sucking the planet dry of resources. Don't worry we don't suck the planet dry... 'cause respawn and what not. The characters were mostly bland and mostly forgettable or a** holes. Here's looking at you Edegar the Edger and the b****y sisters. A big part of life sims is having interesting, and at least some likable, characters.
art: 8/10
Art was one of the aspects that drew me to this game. Art was nice and i liked the bright colors of Mara, it reminded me of Wind Waker, and the animation was my favorite part, which there was some so ill give them that.

only got an hour on the game but its very relaxing, i wont lie.
the OST is actually pretty good, which is a major plus for me, since one of my favourite series is the Persona series.
Summer in Mara definitely does have fetch quests, which can be annoying to some people, but it also has SOME farming. Personally, this isn't a game for someone who likes to be kept busy, but more for someone who just wants to have a relaxing time. No way to die, just tending your own island and doing quests.

The vibes are immaculate. It gets a good rating just for capturing the "beach town of weirdos" feeling perfectly. Lots of nice characters to interact with.
The rest of it is kind of a really barebones farming sim. Its still a lot of fun to play and everything flows together well enough. But there's kind of a nagging feeling that everything could have been deeper. Its a great setting, and it would have been amazing if it was fleshed out even more.
Still, if you like summertime beachside vibes, farming, and weird talking fish and cats, its worth picking up on sale.

Summer is Mara is a comfy game that deals with loss pretty well and you feel for the main character. the Npcs feel like people with their own interest and feelings.

Beautiful game, with a wonderful story; I adored many elements, from the gameplay mechanics of tending your island, to sailing to and from other islands to meet unforgettable characters and helping them with tasks to further their storylines, to the gorgeous areas and lovely soundtrack. Was a cozy play, and a thoroughly enjoyed experience <3
