Great mon game just like the first Nexomon. The story is really interesting again, taking you on quite a journey. I would give it the edge over the first one too. In every other regard Extinction is a step up as well, the mechanics have been refined and the overworld made more interesting too. It´s also a longer game than the first, so it´s well worth the higher price.

I'm actually surprised how good this is. For a pokemon knock off it does a few things different to set itself apart and goes up and beyond.
Instead of the "8 gyms -> pokemon league" Nexomon has an actual open world with a main quest and various side quests. It doesn't hold your hand the entire time and say stick to this one route. I've been branching off and just exploring the various paths.
You choose from NINE different starters at the beginning. Best part? There's another starter you really want? You can find them in the wild. It doesn't completely lock you out like pokemon.
The writing is funny and has some 4th wall breaking meta humor in it. It's actually a lot more engaging than pokemon.
The music is pretty good. The designs are a mixed bag, but there's some pretty darn good ones in the 400+ nexomon.
It's actually worth picking up if you want a good creature collector.

I got this game on sale for like $13 and it's the best pokemonish clone that I've ever played! I mean seriously this game is wayyyy better than most pokemon games in the recent years and especially with the price point that Nintendo is asking. Story is actually really entertaining than I though it would be because I accidentally skipped the first Nexomon game by accident. I love the core, crafting, trading, shards, and coin systems because of how much they drastically change the elements of gameplay and inventory. Also Nexomon 3 is coming soon and I will be there no matter what!

Nexomon Extinction is definitely a MUST for those who are into monster tamer/creature collector genre! the designs of the character/NPCs sprites are so stunning and are distinct from one another! the monsters in Nexomon Extinction looks amazing and cool too! honestly one of the best creature collector games on PC for me hands down! also, don't forget to talk/interact with every NPCs that are found in the game as some of them will give you free items etc

The previous entry was a good game, but it had a pretty basic combat system. Nexomon Extinction refined the formula and made it closer to what you'd find in Pokémon, while improving on many other important aspects. The game is slower as a result, but it's a compromise that I think works in its favor.
Made in the same round, cute and colorful style as the previous title, the game looks even better this time around. Some of the art and pictures may feel cheap at times, but I really enjoyed the great display of colors and the atmosphere of each area. The desert feels hot and dry, the frozen tundra makes you want to pack a fur coat and the hidden village feels... like a place I'm not allowed to talk about. Every zone has a nice and distinct ambiance.
That same praise goes to the design of the Nexomons : there are some awesome ones as well as some... less desirable ones, but the vast majority is cute and pleasant to look at. And with over 400 new beasts to catch, you're bound to find a few that you love.
They'll accompany you on a 30-hour story that's over the top again, the usual quest to save the world from chaos and prevent the human race from being enslaved. Basically a Monday like any other, but it's fun.
One of the reasons that this works is because the game never takes itself seriously. There's even a character dedicated to breaking the fourth wall and making fun of every situation now ! So you always know where the joke is going to come from, and maybe you'll grow tired of it towards the end, but it's usually funny and the many npcs always have some amusing things to say as well, making the world feel lively.
This sequel also brings many quality of life improvements.
Some general good ideas : the possibility to battle any trainer again, basic evolutions in the wild even late game, or the fact that the whole world scales to your level. This means that the game is almost open-world, since you can go and follow side quests anywhere at any point.
There are Cores you can give to your Nexomons that provide various benefits : Stats or experience boosts, money bonuses, or the option to share experience between your different creatures... To switch up on the fly depending on what you're doing at the time !
There are also some other options, that can be toggled on or off : guaranteed escape from wild encounters, no random battles, some healing and stamina regeneration after every fight... You customize your experience as you see fit.
This is relatively balanced and won't make the game too easy, as the new battle system, deeper than before, will allow for actual tough and challenging fights. They even gave a boost to many of the main antagonists' Nexomons ! It's not fair, but it makes those fights more interesting.
They released a Dlc, for free, that had a new area and several quests, as well as many new Nexomons and a few "remixed" fan favorites from the previous game. A custom mode was also recently added, with a ton of options to customize your experience, should you choose to play the game again.
This really shows they listen to the feedback and care about their players, another reason to look forward to an upcoming Nexomon 3 that looks very promising !
Now, while Pokémon has had many years to improve on their own formula, it's only the second Nexomon game and the few flaws that exist are easy to forgive.
Slower than the first game because of the added depth, it's still relatively basic and nowhere near as strategic as the latest Pokémon games.
You may not like it, but not all Nexomons are created equal, and you'll quickly realize that those with fewer or late evolutions are clearly outclassed.
There are also "side quests"... But between fetch quests and simple trades, not many are very exciting.
Lastly, they have put a big emphasis on crafting your own triangular pokéballs (nexotraps), even though you won't really need those. But they're here if you're feeling... crafty !
Those minor hurdles should not deter you from trying out Nexomon Extinction, especially if you're in the mood for some monster catching. Having played a few of those games lately, this one was definitely the best.
It looks nice, has a good sense of humor, and is fun to play with ? Those are qualities you love to see in a gi-... In a game ! Qualities you love to see in a game !
Nexomon Extinction is a singler player only experience, but an excellent game, I'll give it an 8. An actual alternative to Pokémon with fourth wall jokes sprinkled on top !

Super fun and super entertaining writing but the controls are so terrible and you cant change them which is the biggest issue with the entire game. YOU NEED A CONTROLLER BTW 100%.

If you love Pokemon, witty humor, and all around good fun: GET THIS GAME. I actually played this one before the original, but I fell in love with Extinction immediately. The humor is witty and consistent, the game play continues well after the story and keeps giving challenges later on. Even when I leveled 15 above the story (bad habit of mine to do), I still had quite a few fights that actually made me use my items sparingly. I truly believe that this series will be my favorite collecting series. It's twists in the story always came out of left field, but was also really on point. I cannot recommend this game enough.
