Keep the line steady in open field battles and lead your men to victory. Join the Navy Experience what it’s like to be a crew member on board a military sailing ship. Raise the sails, launch rowboats, fire the cannons and cooperate to keep your vessel afloat. Join the Coast Guard Fend off naval vessels and marine-filled rowboats with chain, round and grape shot as they attempt to capture your fortified position. Guard the shoreline to the last man standing and repel the invader.

Playing as a French soldier, someone was mic spamming loud African tribal music. People followed him to a fireplace and formed a circle, dancing about to the African drum music. Meanwhile the British took full control of the map, tribal dancing continued unabated.
With only a couple minutes to go, the micspammer then started playing Native American war dance music and led us all on a charge. The British players , by now all bored and complacent as there was noone to fight, were overwhelmed by the entire team doing a vicious charge to the beat of drums and won with seconds to spare. Most accurate Napoleonic war game I've ever played.

It's a game for gentlemen scoundrels, and manbaby trolls in equal measure. You can be charging into a gripping fight with shouts of huzzah one moment, images of Frederick the Great and Nelson in mind, when suddenly a squad of Frenchmen charges in, somehow killing 3:1 thereby breaking your line-- all this while playing Euro-trash techno with unintelligible internet memes mixed in. It's a unique experience, and one no other game has given me.

I'm not very involved in the Holdfast community, but this game is still great for casual, irreverent multiplayer fun. There are organized line battles and community events for people who want that, but I've gotten more than enough bang for my buck so idgaf. Definitely worth a buy on sale.

Regular Holdfast Experience:
----------------------------------
Step 1: Find a server
Step 2: get addicted and play for 6 months to a year
Step 3: Quit and find something else
Step 4: Get bored of that something else and come back
Step 6: Get addicted again
10/10 experience, really stupid but also really fun.

A napoleonic war game where the British ALWAYS LOSES, like most of the experienced players don’t select this faction idk why

The player count is usually a good amount of regular players. I hope it stays that way and increases for a long time to come. Gameplay aside, the best part of this game is the quirky personalities that it attracts.
I've never been to a catholic mass in real life, but one dude legit held one for both teams in a church during a battle. Now that's soldiering.
