Super Rude Bear Resurrection
Super Rude Bear Resurrection is an ultra-tight, masocore platformer that anyone can beat! Every time you die, your previous corpses stack up and you can jump on them, push them around and use them as platforms or meatshields. Each death makes the game slightly easier, but it's possible to beat the whole game without dying at all! Rude Bear is a gangsta bear from East London who's been summoned back in time to medieval England to defeat his mortal nemesis, The Wizard. Face challenges so lethal, you'll (probably) need to be resurrected thousands of times to stand any chance of winning, and defeat the fearsome Guardians of each world. Run, jump and die your way through sprawling levels, facing fiendish challenges across seven diverse worlds, from ancient ruins to convulsing flesh dungeons.

*In some cases it's fair to review a game after 1 hour of playtime, definitely not in this case - so forget about 'those' negative reviews!
I estimate I needed around 5 - 7.5 hours before I could really like this game. Making a comparison with Super Meat Boy: yes, it feels as if Meat Boy has 'brakes', it feels as if Rude Bear has 'icy feet', but on a scale from 1 - 10: I got used to it = 8. Other than that, really solid platforming, nicely fast-paced...with even a 150% Game Speed option in Practice Mode - or 50% if you feel to.
So, after a couple of hours, I can only complain about following (as of June 7, 2017):
1) Even though I love the challenge & creativity put in the achievements, they currently only unlock after closing the game = lots of restarts required (among other things) if you don't want too many achievements with the same timestamp. Aside from that, the registrations for the achievements in format 'Ultimate ' aren't done well...
2) I love the idea of the different modes: Neurotypical, Iron, V & Ultimate Rainbow, but I don't like the idea that you can complete the whole game on Neurotypical + unlock all boss achievements this way = 0 value; e.g. you may die a 1,000 times, traps will vanish if you hit them (and don't respawn in this mode), corpses spawn everywhere (where you want them...) and you don't lose progress in a boss battle while dying! So yes, a game everyone can finish, but in terms of completion it could have been slightly different here...
8.5/10:
- Approved Masocore Platformer;
- Not repetitive;
- Good investment in a wide range of game settings;
- Different modes for challenge seekers, including a Practice Mode;
- Nice graphics & colourful worlds; nicely designed & developed/optimized
Probably 9/10 after some bug fixes, achievement bugs being the crucial ones!
EDIT:
1) I think it's interesting to mention that I run this game on my native, 1440 x 900 resolution with mostly a constant 75 fps (max. settings), even being able to record a video in good quality. Don't worry about you system specs, and I'd say: don't pay attention to the recommended 4GB VRAM for sure...My specs in a nutshell: HD 5670, C2D E8400 & 4GB DDR3
2) I hear (some) people at least complaining about following:
- The fairy text: scroll through the wide range of settings and you'll be able to disable the text, like I did. There's some good fairy talk, but it was mostly annoying for me while focusing. This aside, there are options to disable your ghost (run), enable a timer, choose a 'blood effect'-setting etc.
- The music: it's (diverse) Grime, music with electronic sounds and House & Drum 'N Bass influences as well = why I appreciate a couple of tracks for sure as someone who's into EDM, not into Hip Hop (alike) music. To complement the bad listening experience, I decided to put my own music up as well; always works like a charm!

YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES.
Another game suffering bad reviews about sh.itty control or unfair mechanics from people that are not good enough and don't try to improve. Don't listen to players complaning about bugs, controls or whatever, this is some whine covering their unability to train and improve when they face a difficult game.
Yes, Super Rude Bear Resurrection is difficult. BUT it comes with a unique mechanic allowing you to make the game easier when you die. In fact, the more you die, the easier it gets since your corpse stays on the floor and allows you to progress further. If a trap kills you, it also gets destroyed. For example, if you die on spikes, your body will become a platform and you won't have to worry about these anymore. If you are not skilled enough but have enough patience, you can eventually fill the world with corpses and reach the end. Not the funniest way to play I admit but if one level is really destroying you, you can beat it and continue your progression.
Level design-wise, the game is a masterpiece. There are so many good ideas in this game, it feels even better than Super Meat Boy (yes). In fact, I don't think I can't go back to play SMB again after tasting SRBR. The controls are way better and the pace is faster and smoother.
Finally, this game offers a huge challenge to people that are skilled enough and want to tackle all the levels without dying. It took me a great deal of time to get all the achievements but I never felt frustrated (well... I did, but only because I sucked, not because the game is bad). If you like speedrunning, this game is a jewel and already has a solid community around it polishing every single levels it offers. There are so many improvements possible so don't hesitate to come and try to beat these times.
I'd like to finish this review by mentionning that the game has been developped by a single person: Alex Rose. This makes its work even more impressive. He even set up a discord where you come and chat with him. If you encounter a bug, you can talk to him about it and he'll patch it as quick as he can. Games and people like these must be encouraged so if you like platformers, buy this game.
BUY.

Super Meat Boy with pretty colours. With a crazy bear. On acid. Cranked to over 9000.
I rest my case.
(It does say masocore in the description. The developer absolutely means it. If you can't handle soulcrushing pain and one bazillion repetitions, don't even try to touch this with a ten foot pole.)

Finished the base game (on lowest difficulty, still working on beating it without corpses) and completed some of the challenges. The game keeps magically pulling you back to it even when you're getting frustrated at a hard part. Lots of replayability due to the different modes and you getting better at the game, finding new ways to save time or learning new tricks to at least *survive* a hard section in the later levels.
Had to disable VSync in the settings to get the game running smoothly, not sure if that still is an issue since I haven't turned it back on since. Twitch Mode is mainly "die a lot more often"-mode, even skilled players have no chance of surviving some of the effects people vote on (the viewers seem to like it when you suffer though).
Overall I recommend the game even if you're normally not into platformers (..like me). The variety of mechanics introduced in every world prevent it from getting boring and the challenges are ACTUAL challenges. Definitely not an easy 100% completion, but even more rewarding thanks to that.

In Super Rude Bear Resurrection, players control a bear named Rude Bear who is on a quest to defeat the evil sorcerer, Grimey Grim, and save the world. The game features challenging platforming gameplay, with players navigating through a variety of levels and using Rude Bear's abilities to defeat enemies and solve puzzles.
One of the standout features of Super Rude Bear Resurrection is its "deathless" gameplay mechanic, which allows players to respawn at the last checkpoint they reached when they die, with the previous deaths of Rude Bear remaining in the game as ghostly apparitions. This allows players to learn from their mistakes and try different strategies to progress through the game.
Overall, Super Rude Bear Resurrection is a challenging and enjoyable platformer that is suitable for fans of the genre. The deathless gameplay mechanic adds an interesting twist to the gameplay, and the game's sense of humor and charming art style make it a unique and memorable experience.

I received this game in the Humble Montly, hadn't heard of it before, but it quickly became my most played game of the week.
I really like this game!!! A little like Super Meat Boy, but the levels are longer and it's a little more forgiving.
The fact that your character leaves corpses behind when you die is an interesting mechanic! Not that useful when trying to complete a level with zero death, but can still be useful when trying to complete a level for the first time or trying to access secret areas.
Also, the achievements are really fun. They add extra goals to levels, like "complete a section by surfing over your corpse" and stuff like that, ahah!
I completed a little less than half the levels and so far they are all really well designed and really fun to do over and over again to try to get the "no death" score.
The developper of this game is pretty active on the forum, answering questions and all, which is great!

This is a solid platformer.
+ The corpse mechanic works really well. If you're not a fan of hardcore platformers you can still beat and enjoy the game.
+ Each world brings new features, and every level feels entirely different.
+ Online ghost
+ Settings for speedrunning
+ Training mode
Some nitpicking
- The startup sound is way too loud, be warned
- You can only check leaderboards on the level complete screen. So if you want to check out the leaderboards (again) you first have to beat a level.
