8-Colors Star Guardians +
A heartfelt, ironic homage to the tokusatsu genre
Oh no! Evil alien monsters have attacked Earth (yet again)! But fret not, because the Star Guardians, an elite group of fighters led by the hot-blooded Rhea, is going to kick their backs back to outer space!
Plan your path
Face eight gigantic galactic monsters, carefully choosing which ones to tackle first! Unlock skills by defeating the weakest ones and use them to best the heavy-hitters! And don’t worry if you don’t do it at the first attempt, your teammates will offer precious advice after every defeat!
Meet your (dysfunctional) heroines!
The Star Guardians are a motley crew of girls and women at different stages of their lives, with their quirks, aspirations, crushes and little idiosyncrasies. Learn more about their relationships after beating (or being defeated) by a boss.
Up for one more challenge?
Choose between a more relaxed Story Mode, with dialogues, hints and charming interactions, and a more brutal Arcade Mode, where you’ll have to best all enemies in a set amount of turns. Can you beat them all before the timer runs out?
Wait, there’s more!
The Steam edition adds more content and quality-of-life improvements, compared to the original version:
- Story Mode Chapter 2: One year after the end of Chapter 1, fight through a gauntlet of deadly ensembles of monsters, find the truth behind the mysterious White Guardian, and bring back peace to the planet once more!
- Unlockable costumes for all characters, obtained by clearing Story and Arcade mode
- Improved settings and user interface
- Full joypad and keyboard support. The game can still be played with a mouse in its entirety for additional accessibility.

8 color star guardians is a fun, if at times frustrating, turn based puzzle with simple graphics, fun dialogue and an entertaining story.
The story is pretty simple. Eight monsters are attacking at once and the star guardians have to divide their forces to manage the chaos and find the source of it all. You fight OP bosses in a specific order you have to figure out to acquire new powers and defeat all your enemies.
The characters are interesting with their own unique personalities. The world building, while minimal, is there and adds to the feeling that the characters exist before and after your short time with them.
The character design, especially the monster design, is great even though its limited to eight colors. The little sprite movements and alternate costumes inject a lot of personality. The music and costumes feels like knock off power rangers but thats part of the reason why I'm here.
My one complaint is that I wish the story mode were longer. It features two chapters that took me about 3-4 hours. There's also an arcade mode that can definitely offer a few more hours of enjoyment if you're into that kind of thing.

8 Colors Star Gaurdians + combines old school Turn Based RPG battles and reinvents them as Megaman esque bosses, most having a weakness to exploit. It's a fun, if short puzzle to figure out for each boss, usually only taking 2-3 attempts each. While short, the game is held up by it's fun writing. Each of the guardians has their own backstory and personality that while not explored in much depth, is explicit enough for things to be inferred. The best analogy is it feels like you're joining a sailor moon-esque anime mid season, lacking context for how these characters met and the establishment of their team, but understanding enough to get the gist and move along. The colors and designs are incredibly vibrant, bringing to mind a mix between 90s computer games and saturday morning anime (the previously mentioned sailor moon). I've only beaten chapter 1 so far, but enjoyed my time with the gaurdians, and I look forward to seeing what awaits me in chapter 2, and for such a low price, I reccomend giving it a shot for yourself.

Pretty good turn based battling game. Sort of an rpg, but not really there's no levelling up or gear, although you do learn new techniques when you defeat a boss (well the first 8 at least, sometimes some of the others).
Power Rangers but more magical girl, a story that isn't final fantasy 7 levels of deep but enjoyable and more than just an excuse plot. No dungeons, no trash mobs, just bosses.
Short but long enough to justify the price especially on sale (episode 1 is not even half the game, check the menu for episode 2 when you think you've beaten the game. Give the achievements a bunch of peopl haven't though of this). The first few boss fights of ep 2 are lazy but they do get more interesting.
My time includes beating both episode 1 or 2, though it would probably be slightly shorted if my dog didnt keep pestering me and I didn't stay up till 3am. Then again the fact I beat this game in 2 days says good things about it

This game is just fun to play, have to say the story line was funny to read, boss battles where a challenge to figure out also. If you are looking for a nice retro style game to play, then this game is yours to try out.

It's way better than i was expecting, the story is entretaining, the characters are funny and full of charm, the dialogue and interactions are a lot of fun, the pixel art is cute and the soundtrack is really good. The gameplay is closer to a puzzle game than an RPG, you have to beat most of the bosses in a very specific way with a little bit of wiggle room for freedom in the harder ones. Chapter 1 is like a Megaman Boss Rush Puzzle thing, a lot of trial and error but it's quick and you get fun dialogue while trying to find the correct order, Chapter 2 is lineal but a lot more interesting and fun since you can apply what you learned in chapter 1 in tougher remixed rematch fights and some new bosses.
Overall a very fun, chill and cute game you can beat in a single sitting.

I suppose this is a fun battler, but it is not an RPG at all. Recommended for the people who like this kind of game; whatever the genre is, I have no idea.

Amazing turn based puzzling boss battles. An addictive game loop, and a quirky cast of characters makes 8csg a must buy
