Underdog Detective is an official adaption of the popular Chinese TV series Luoyang. The game starts 10 years before the TV series’ story, when Equinoxes, an organization of killers, and Eosos, a government-back spec-ops agency, are in the constant state of conflict. As the imperial capital, Luoyang is torn between their conflicts, Underdog’s Dwelling, a lawless corner in the capital, becomes the next battlefield…

Wer Englisch kann wird wird mit diesem Spiel oder eher gesagt interaktiven Blockbuster eine Menge Freude haben. Es ist ein genial gemachte Story mit Rätseln , Entscheidungen und verschiedenen Pfaden die einen über viele Stunden echt gut unterhalten. Ich finde es ist jeden Cent Wert. Die Charaktere sind herrlich und der Humor gepaart mit Spannung ebenso. Kann es jedem Empfehlen. :)

Wir starten als Händler Du Xun in Underdog Dwelling - einem Slum im historischen China um das Jahr 700. Nachdem wir uns fast um Kopf und Kragen mit einer Kundin unseres Ladens reden, ruft ein Freund aus dem Militär, um die Hintergründe eines Toten zu klären. Ab hier beginnt unsere Detektiv-Laufbahn richtig.
Dabei sehen wir immer kleine Videoclips und haben dann eine Wahl zu treffen, ein Bilder-Hotspot-Suchspiel oder bauen Sherlock Holmes mäßig einen Gedankenpalast auf und deduzieren mittels unserer Beobachtungen hoffentlich auf die richtige Schlussfolgerung. Kleinere QTEs kommen auch mal vor.
Die Videoclips sind gut gedreht und spielen in hochwertigen Kulissen. Die Charaktere sind lustig-überdreht und teilweise ein bisschen klischee-klamaukig. Dabei entspricht es irgendwie einem gewissen Asien-Serien-Klischee, fast schon einer Soap. Gut, es ist wohl auch eine Fortsetzung der Fernsehserie 'Luoyang'. Die Kapitel sind kurz und knackig. Hat man mal etwas verpasst, kann man auch einfach zurück und wieder vorspringen. Genauso kann man sehr schnell seine Entscheidung korrigieren, wenn man mal falsch abgebogen ist.
Wer FMVs sowie dem Asiatischen nicht abgeneigt ist und auch Chinesisch mit englischen Untertiteln aushält, sollte auf jeden Fall einen Blick darauf werfen! Die ersten 5 Kapitel gibt es zum Testpreis, den Rest der Geschichte als DLC.
Auf meinem SteamDeck ist (un)witzigerweise das Video auf dem Kopf, aber Texte und Hotspots sind normal - also nicht wirklich spielbar, obwohl es mit grünem Haken verifiziert ist.
Update (20.12.): Das oben geschilderte Problem auf dem Steam Deck ist inzwischen verschwunden.

One of the best FMV games I have played; it was very fun and entertaining to follow the story ^^b

Es ist ein FMV Spiel. Und ein sehr GUTES!
Der Production Value ist hoch und die Integration von Interaktivität im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten dieses Genres hervorragend.
Humor hat es auch, wenn es auch manchmal sehr cheesy wird und gelegentlich im Sekundentakt zwischen Humor und that-escalated-quickly-and-dark schwankt.
ABER: für den Preis von ~20€ ist es meiner Meinung nach ein Must-buy, wenn man das Genre mag.
...und damit klarkommt, dass es nur englische Untertitel hat, mit chinesischem Voice-over.

the actors are very good and even in the "choice" parts of the game fun to watch
Maybe not the most ineteresting gameplay, but they managed to pack a interesting story in a cool setting that ist worth exploring
i hope there are more DLC's or more of this kind of game&movie

All chapters are great. This is such an excellent game. I was fully invested and had a ton of fun. The characters were also written very well. Looking forward to a sequel if we ever get one.

Toller Interaktiver Film leider nur mit Englischen Subs aber es ist auch so spielbar !
Die Aufnahmen sind sehr gut gelungen die Story ist sehr gut .
Ich wurde 6 Stunden sehr gut unterhalten !
