XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen, is the expansion to the 2016 award-winning strategy game of the year. XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen adds extensive new content in the fight against ADVENT when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. This expansion includes new Hero classes to counter the “Chosen”, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay. Three additional factions have emerged to strengthen Earth's resistance – the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars – each with its own unique abilities and contrasting philosophies. These factions provide powerful hero class soldiers to aid in missions and new opportunities for the strategy layer.

still awesome in 2023

My personal 'crack addiction', I've put over 2700 hours into this bad boy.
The modding community makes this a nearly timeless game by adding/changing/bug-fixing just about everything.
I can't give it enough stars!

Very good, but, unfortunately, you can NOT marry the chosen hunter; I've tried many times to take his hand in marriage, IMPOSSIBLE, probably a glitch, please fix this ASAP.

The essential way to play XCOM 2. The new units are rad and having to deal with the Chosen in the early/mid game really kicks things up a notch. If there's a weakness to this DLC it's that in the late game after you have finished off the Chosen things become perhaps too easy, but getting to that point is a hell of a ride and it almost feels like an earned victory lap. Highly recommend!

tldr;
1) GREAT new tool for slowing down AVATAR Project
2) Adds cool new bosses
3) Cool new enemies
4) Somewhat new classes and gear
Adds some very likeable antagonists which in turn greatly enhances the experience, sometimes even stealing the limelight from the main storyline. The chosen can be somewhat annoying, and although almost harmless in combat, they can become a serious pain (in combat and strategic layer) if left alone. They have awesome personalities and it kind of feels bad when you finally gets to kill them.
It also adds covert operations, which allows you to semi-passively counter the AVATAR Project`s progress, thus allowing A MUCH NEEDED BREATHING SPACE for you to build your squads and getting them rested before commiting to difficult and risky campaign missions. For me, this was a great tool, since the AVATAR project was a franctic ticking bomb, now you can take your time.
New cool enemies are cool, add a lot of variery and require preparation and planning before trying to engage them.
The new factions are kind of cool, specialy the REAPERS (imo), using them mostly for screening and scouting, can be a great to in order to avoid getting ambushed while running across those raid missions. Templars are nice with theikr psychic thingies, although I cant really find much use for them in my squads. SKIRMISHERS are the most tragic and cool (lorewise), great for separating high value enemies and smashing them up.
Overall, a VERY NICE dlc, although price-y, a must have for 50% off

Not only it adds a substantial storyline, and a bunch of classes and mechanics,
it adds FIVE (5) characters voiced by Star Trek TNG main cast actors.
Riker, Q, Worf, Tasha, Troi, all do voiceovers for this game.
I get such a raging erection from the VAing by Frakes and De Lancie that it interferes with my ability to play the game. 10/10

Really great DLC. It can be a bit harsh for brand new players but it adds so much to the base game. Would not buy the base game on its own, purchasing this DLC with it is a must.
