Voodoo Vince Remastered
The classic character platformer is back for the first time in over 13 years, and now in glorious high definition! Vince’s adventure takes him from the streets of New Orleans to the depths of a Louisiana bayou to find the whereabouts of his keeper, Madam Charmaine. In true voodoo style, Vince encounters and defeats quirky monsters and villains … by kicking his own butt! By racing under a falling safe, jumping into a high-speed blender, or leaping under falling rubble, Vince is sure to defeat his enemies—all while managing to escape completely unscathed. Voodoo combat action: Players can employ more than 30 voodoo attacks that do outrageous things to Vince, but it's the monsters who end up hurting! Unlike in other games, players must actually USE dangers and hazards, instead of running from them. Falling safes, prickly pushpins, and bolts of lightning bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "no pain, no gain."

I was a 3D platform kid. Mario 64, Banjo, DK64, Sonic Adventure, Spyro, Kao, Croc, Crash... those were my drugs of choice.
I remember when this game was announced and I was on it. But my collectathon dreams were cut short since this was a OG Xbox exclusive. Although the X360 was everywhere in Brazil in my teens, I never met one soul who owned an OG Xbox. To make matters worse, this game was never eligible for backwards compatibility so it always felt like the one game which escaped me.
But, to my satisfaction, the original designer of this game is actually a big shot at Microsoft nowadays and maybe that helped bringing this remastered version to life in 2017.
So now, 20 years after the original release I can finally put my teenager dreams to rest.
So what's the game like? The most beautiful and charming jank ever. The OST is great and how the game doesn't take itself seriously at all make for a very enjoyable experience. Vince is surprisingly capable with his double jump, spin attack and hover combo and the game pace is nice and quick. Gets it over with before overstaying it's welcome. The only part I disliked was the last level where the jankiness felt a tad too much.
Overall a nice and funny little game. A cool one for 3D platform fans, but nothing special if you were not really into the genre already.

Tons of fun on the Steam Deck.

One of my favorites, and one that I still cannot believe got a remaster. I adore this game in all ways -
But the remaster changed out that absolute bop of a piano tune in the Earth Water and Wood level. I'll never forgive it for that, but I love it nonetheless.

An incredibly underrated platformer. Full of charm, fun gameplay and a great soundtrack.

This is a fantastic game. Brings back nostalgia, but also is just fun to play. I love the scripting of Vince in particular. Sarcastic heroes are my favourite.

This game is fun as hell. Brings me back to 2003. Criminally underrated game. Shame it never got a sequel.
