If you play Trackmania for singleplayer campaign then this is the best one. Massive campaign, fun tracks, vibrant graphics, addictive gameplay, just a great game I don't understand why it has mixed reviews.

Honestly, there's a lot to like about this. To this day it feels like the most gamey Trackmania game, but at the same time it has one big flaw in my opinion, especially if you're like most Trackmania fans who like the Stadium car and environment. The Lagoon car physics just feel terrible to drive, which is something I never thought I'd say about a car that handles exactly as I input it. It's too responsive in my opinion, and makes lightning quick reactions to your input, and will cause you to fly into walls or obstacles. The rest of the game is like every other good Trackmania game, and is very fun, but the Lagoon physics are almost enough to make me drop the game. If you're here for just the Stadium/TMNF experience then move along to Trackmania 2020, but if you really like the other styles we got with Trackmania 2, then pick this one up. It isn't as much of a pure PC experience as other titles, but is still worth the fun from the 150 courses that don't have an overly sensitive physics model.
The biggest strength and weakness for Turbo to me as someone who started with TM 2020 is that you have to go through the white/green/blue/red/black series with every car type before moving on to the next color. I haven't played much of TM2, but I definitely will after playing this. Canyon and Valley each have their own unique styles of driving that are very fun. Stadium is as Stadium always has been, and is still great. Lagoon is the reason it's a weakness. One out of every four courses is extremely frustrating in a way that comes down to the physics engine feeling too responsive and making it very easy to fling yourself into scenery at a moments notice. It's a bit of a black mark on what would be a fantastic game when after 30 courses of fun I have to deal with the Lagoon physics that just flat out aren't fun to play to me, and yet, I keep sticking to it, plugging along to keep playing the rest of the styles and the frankly very different aesthetics of this compared to any other Trackmania game. At the same time, as someone who got into the series with TM 2020, I never really got into the other environments and car types, but this one has managed to do that for me. Drifting around courses in the Canyon car feels great and like a drift game that I've always wanted. Sliding around the offroad sections of the Valley environment feels like a good arcade rally game with more depth than is out there in most rally games, while still trying to be a fun game. The Stadium car is still the Stadium car at it's core and is fun, but challenging to drive, and I love it like I do for every other Trackmania game it's been in.
If you liked Lagoon and all the other styles were at least a bit fun, this is definitely worth picking up. If you are only here for the Stadium car then you should pass on this. If you liked most of TM2 then this is probably worth it. It's a ton of fun, but has some big downsides to me just because you're forced to play every environment in sequence instead of focusing on the ones you like.

I've been a Trackmaniac for a long time, and this might be the best Trackmania ever.
The Trackmania series seems to be known for having incremental changes over time. I avoided getting Trackmania Turbo for a long time, because I thought it would basically just be more levels for the environments from TM2. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the physics engine has been changed, for all 4 environments. It's a lot more nuanced. The cars feel "weightier", and in general you will need to do more throttle control, and brake earlier before sharp turns. The gameplay is very satisfying due to this.
More random notes on the physics: The car in the Valley environment drifts more easily, which is a welcome change and makes drifting more useful. The sand and wood in Lagoon is like driving on ice. Also, it's harder to maintain control in loops in general. This is neither good nor bad, just different.
Of the Trackmania 2 environments, I only enjoyed Canyon, Stadium, and Valley. I could never get into Lagoon. However, I'm pleasantly surprised to report that Lagoon is actually really fun in Turbo. I look forward to getting to more Lagoon levels.
Random other stuff: The interface is so much better than the TM2 series. It loads fairly quickly, and is easy/intuitive to navigate. I'm also really interested in the "Random Track generator", although I haven't used it much yet... I feel like once I've gotten tired of the built in tracks (Which is going to be a while!), I can always generate new ones (and save the good ones), and of course I can always pore through tracks that other people have made.
My ONLY complaint is that there's no way to turn off ghosts. I generally prefer to play without them.. but I'll just have to get used it.
Overall, this is a deep, rewarding game. I've played a considerable amount of the older Trackmania games, but I think i can solidly say that this one is improved. It's a joy to play. It's definitely going to be a "forever game" for me

who be up turboing their trackmania
Steam User 1
PROS:
-cool and challenging campaign tracks
-satisfying controls (to me at least)
-great art direction
-nice selection of music tracks (minus the monstercat ones)
CONS:
-overpriced
-limited customization
-underwhelming trackbuilder mode
-dead online
-ubisoft connect which requires 3 updates a week
-same 4 songs on shuffle when retrying a track instead of shuffling all songs
-no option to switch songs in-game
So yea it's far from being a great game but it stills fun so get it when it's on sale because 40 bucks is too much for a campaign of 200 tracks
