Good story, solid gameplay but a bit padded out with unnecessary dialogue. 8/10

I never knew I needed a cop-themed tactical RPG. It's a simple police dispatcher sim with occasional gameplay breaks of XCom style tactical RPG. The voice acting is a bit weak, but other than that I think the game is very well put together. Some of the missions are frustratingly difficult, but there's nothing you can't beat without excellent strategy and perfect execution.

I played the first game, and as of writing this I just finished this, the second entry to This Is The Police.
My opinions on both the first game and this game are simply, yeah, they're good games. They both have faults, and I know some people may not like the story of this one but honestly? I think it's good enough, and I think it ends off well enough for me to be happy.
I recommend both games, and I think, if you like the first, you'll most likely like the second. Cheers, and have a good day.

I can see how this game would scare away the twitch kiddies, even those who sort of liked the previous game. It starts with a rather long and mature cut scene after all (oh the horror!) But if you are not them, and you did like the previous game and its narrative (what was there not to like?) then the sequel is more of the same but with two differences.
First, the story is a direct continuation but somehow held together even better, although you miss out on the gradual fall from grace in the first game since the (anti)hero, Boyd, is already beyond redemption when the sequel starts. Having lost everything, he has escaped the city and is now a tenant under an alias in a snowed in shack somewhere in the middle of nowhere, the northernmost part of it anyway. If people would just leave you and your empty bottles alone... How long can you last before your past, still on your trail, catches up with you?
Second, every now and then you get thrown into tactical scenarios, a new feature. These are like a light version of the missions in Phantom Doctrine or any other semi-contemporary themed turn-based tactical isometric game. I think they play pretty well, well enough, and gives the game a little more depth. Or would width be a better word?
All in all, you can safely pick this up on sale and get a run for you money, provided you played the first game. And you should have by now.

Great sequel of a great game.

I can't listen to Sweet Ginger Green anymore without getting flashbacks of the time I sent three good cops to a break and enter call and ended the day with a roster that was now three names shorter.
The music goes HARD.
